I need to process what just happened in Chapter 2 because my emotions are all over the place. Meng Shuhe gets divorced through a servant, not in person, and the VERY NEXT DAY Shen Qian is throwing a grand wedding for another woman. The audacity is actually staggering. But here's what got me—the scene where she shows up at the wedding in plain clothing. Not dressed for mourning, not dressed for celebration, just... present. Like she's saying "I exist and I saw what you did." When she asks Shen Qian directly, "Husband, are you taking a concubine today? Why such a grand display for a concubine?"—that line is everything. She's not crying. She's not screaming. She's using his own words against him, calling the new bride a concubine to strip away the glory of his new marriage. And then the backstory drops: she was swapped at birth, raised in the countryside as a merchant's daughter, and the Shen family always looked down on her. The gossip from the crowd is brutal—"a woman from the countryside with no sense of propriety and was stained with the stench of copper." Ouch. But Meng Shuhe doesn't crumble. She stands there and lays out the legal grounds why the divorce is invalid. The Qichu, the Sanbuchu—she knows her rights. What really got me though was Lu Xiu's reaction. "That blind, damnable thing! How dare he divorce my mother!" This unborn child is already fiercely loyal to her. And then there's the whole situation with Lu Jing—she slept with him once while drunk, and now he's apparently the Crown Prince who has someone else in his heart. The romantic tension is already building in the most complicated way possible.
I was thoroughly impressed by the depth and richness of this story.
This is a great book! Have really been enjoying it so far.
Please reduce the NPCs chat dude...your just using them to fill up the word count and its not funny.Good book thoughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
my not so sweet CEO, the story was well written, I like milly characters was a very enjoyable read! I was hooked from the start by the intriguing premise and the author's vivid descriptions.????????
l love the design status of Ruth Lee lead, the hidden passion of her way is unbreakable
I like the idea of exploring how a present and caring mother can help heal your inner child, and there are moments in the book I can get into, but the mc seems alternately naive and toxic. How is she barely interested in her daughter? Why would she give her son relationship advice only to play games for his attention? Sus.On a more positive note, I didn’t notice any glaring grammatical errors.
Wow, wow, just wow! This book is such an incredible read, and I can’t understand why it’s so underrated. The writing is engaging, the story is captivating, and it keeps you hooked from start to finish. More people need to pick this up and experience its brilliance!
Only on chapter 3 an iam invested in the story already. It seems like this book is going to be another great book from one of my favorite authors.
This novel is very wonderful, I advise you to read it ??
this story is so well written. Each character is complex and well developed. Even more importantly, they are funny. The MC is an excellent mix of sass and delightful innocence. The ML does a good job at towing the line between obsessive devotion, and respectful care. So far, there hasn't really been any of the toxic pitfalls that you usually see in this kind of trope.Overall: 10/10 a good read
it's an amazing book which keeps improving in each chapter . The end of one chapter makes u look forward to another one nd it seems more interesting with each coming chapter
