Also known as Emperor Renzong of Song. He is Zhao Xin's father and the ruler of the Song Dynasty. He is described as having a handsome beard and somewhat dark complexion, dressed in moon-white robes. He left a reputation for diligence and frugality in history books. He is obsessed with having his own biological son inherit the throne and has repeatedly sent adopted heirs back after having biological sons. He values Zhao Xin greatly but was disappointed by the high fever that robbed his son of his cleverness. He was deeply grief-stricken upon hearing of his third son Zhao Xi's death.
