Also known as the First Emperor, Zheng, or Ying Zheng. The ruler of Qin at the twenty-seventh year of his reign. He is thirty-nine years old. He is portrayed as arrogant, defiant, and irreverent toward Heaven, claiming his virtue surpasses the Three Sovereigns and Five Emperors. He refused to be intimidated by thunder and lightning during the Fengshan ceremony and declared he would cease offering sacrifices to Heaven if it did not acknowledge him.
