Female protagonist, the second daughter of Old Man Ning (though not his biological daughter). Originally betrothed to Scholar Liang for five years since she was thirteen. She discovered she was the descendant of rebels and was threatened by her elder sister Ning Yuqiao. She ultimately switched places with her sister and married into the Huo family, marrying a man supposedly dead. She is described as slender, fresh, beautiful and capable, compared to scallions. She showed great sacrifice by giving up her own happiness to protect her family and the Huo parents from further grief.
