ADragonFantasy
Let me just lay out the stakes because WOW. Luo Yuandao wants to kill Lin Lang because the General holds leverage over him. Lin Lang suspects Luo Yuandao sent assassins after him and is furious. Luo Qingwu knows about both plots and is using the information to secure her own survival. Luo Jin'er thinks this is a romance story and is genuinely confused about why her crush isn't interested in her. The external conflict is obvious — political intrigue, assassination plots, a forced marriage. But the INTERNAL conflict is what got me. Luo Qingwu is constantly walking this razor's edge: she needs Lin Lang to trust her enough to marry her, but she also needs to maintain her father's confidence that she's playing the loyal daughter. One wrong move and she's dead — either by her father's orders or by her future husband's sword. "If I want to cook the rice, to conceive a child to secure my life... forcing it definitely won't work." This line hit me hard. Her entire survival depends on a man who wants to kill her father, and she has to make him WANT her while secretly working for his enemy. The stakes are literally life and death every single day. And the suspense! Every conversation is a minefield. When Luo Qingwu feeds her father false information about Lin Lang's suspicions, we're on the edge of our seats wondering: will he believe her? Will he act on it? Will Lin Lang find out? The confrontation with Luo Jin'er in Chapter 8 is also peak tension — not because anyone's in physical danger, but because Luo Qingwu is revealing she knows about her sister's affair with the man she's supposed to marry. That's a threat that could destroy Luo Jin'er's future and expose secrets that could bring down the entire family. Every scene raises the stakes. Every conversation is a battle. I was literally holding my breath through these chapters.
The dialogue in this section is absolutely vicious and I'm here for it. Let me just drop some highlights because the author has no mercy: "Sorry. I'm simply rich." — said with a shrug. That's not a line, that's a declaration of war. "Looks like your dream of becoming supervisor just disappeared." — casual, conversational, and absolutely devastating to Sister Ying. "Do you think I run a charity?" — when confronted about charging interest on their tab. Perfect. Just perfect. But what really stands out is how each character has a distinct voice. The rich kids all sound the same — entitled, whiny, desperate to please Lin Zixuan. Sister Ying has that simping, gossip-prone energy. Manager Zhang goes from authoritarian to sycophantic in one phone call. And Zhong Suian? Her dialogue is short, sharp, and delivered with zero emotion, which makes it hit even harder. She doesn't need to shout. She just says what she means. The narrator's voice is also doing a lot of work here. Lines like "Phones worth only a few cents really did have plenty of problems" and "She spoke so casually, as though she were buying an ordinary trinket" give us this dry, almost sarcastic commentary that perfectly matches Zhong Suian's internal state. The author isn't just writing dialogue — they're writing a whole attitude.
Okay so let me just say this — the Bai Chuxue text scene is absolutely brilliant plotting. You have Wen Qingli standing there, phone in hand, watching Lu Zheng pick up his phone, and you just KNOW what's on the screen. The message is so brazen: "Ah Zheng, I'm back in the country. See you at the school anniversary. Do you miss me?" And then the nail in the coffin — the profile pictures are identical. Same face. Same person. She's been keeping tabs this whole time. But what I love is how the author doesn't make Lu Zheng react dramatically. He just... sets his phone down. No panic. No explanation offered. Instead he transfers 100,000 yuan to Wen Qingli like nothing happened. That nonchalance is either the mark of a man who has everything under control, or a man who's already made up his mind about where his loyalties lie. Either way, it's delicious tension. And then there's the murder subplot — Professor Gu, Lin Weiwei dead, police taking him away. This isn't just background noise. The school anniversary is coming up, Bai Chuxue is returning, and a murder investigation is simmering. Three threads converging on one event. The author is building something here, and I am HERE for it.
I'll always wait for the update♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This story is an absolute blast! Instead of the usual hardworking cultivation protagonist, Han Yu scams, cheats, and talks his way to the top, leaving even the most powerful figures completely frustrated. The dialogue is sharp and hilarious, and his schemes are so ridiculous yet genius that you can’t help but root for him. The mix of classic cultivation elements with modern-style trickery makes every scene unpredictable and fun. If you love clever anti-heroes, witty banter, and a story where brains beat brawn in the most entertaining way possible, this is definitely a must-read!
It's a great novel ?has a lot of potential, so I look forward to it.
the Nizar guy that guy is sounds badass. immediately feels like someone whos been through hell before. That makes him both cool and kind of intimidating. I don’t know much about him yet but i bet he is eyes are cute, he gives off that "I’ve seen things you wouldnt believe" vibe. He’s the kind of guy you’d want on your side, but at the same time, you kind of wonder what’s really going on in his head. Is he just a hardened survivor as he seems, probably just a petite little boy if you ask me, or is there something more to him `wink wink` ? Either way, he definitely stands out.Overall the chapter was a solid start. It puts you in the story right away and that Nizar Guy he adds that extra layer of spice of you know what i mean `wink wink`. Id keep reading just to see more of him Good luck with Chapter 2 !
I like how introspective the Main Character is. He is relatable and grounded. Pacing and quality wise is?. We'll see how the.story unfolds...
