'Under the moonlight, it resembled a beautiful painting.' That's it. That's the line. The author could have gone full baroque on this description but instead they keep it simple and it hits harder because of it. Let me walk through how this scene builds, because the craftsmanship here is actually insane. First you've got the banquet—roasted meat, bonfire crackling, the Emperor on his high platform stroking that emerald thumb ring (such a small detail but it tells you everything about him). Then the white fox appears, all that congratulatory noise, and suddenly Prince Heng drops his verbal bomb about hunting a bigger fox. The silence that follows? You can feel it. The bonfire sound becomes the only thing left. And then—CHILL. The scene shifts. Night wind, a horse galloping, and suddenly you're not in the palace anymore. You're at a riverbank with boats moored, lanterns glowing. And then the reed marsh. Golden reeds, moonlight on water, the boat moving forward like you're floating into a dream. What I love is how the author uses temperature and light to mark transitions. The banquet is warm—fire, roasted meat, bodies pressed together. The ride is cold—night wind, slight chill. The marsh is luminous—moonlight, lanterns, gold and silver. Each setting has its own sensory fingerprint. You could close your eyes and still know which scene you're in. And the white fox itself! Caged, snow-white, wound on its foot like a red silk ribbon. It's beautiful and trapped and bleeding. Isn't that kind of the whole vibe of this story? Everyone's performing auspiciousness while actually being caged.
Okay so I need to talk about the grandfather. Like, who is this man and why did he hit me so hard? Wen Xi gives them food, turns to leave, and the FIRST thing he says isn't thank you—it's a warning. "I saw a lot of people wandering around outside when I first arrived. They might be searching for things now that the rain has stopped. You... you be careful. Don't let yourself be discovered with so many supplies." This man has NOTHING. He's scavenging half-moldy biscuits from trash bags with his feverish granddaughter behind him. And yet his instinct isn't to cling to this stranger for more handouts—it's to protect HER. That reversal knocked me sideways. He reads her like a book: young woman, alone in an unfinished building, clearly hiding supplies. Most people in this apocalypse would either beg or threaten. This guy offers wisdom. And then later when the thug is begging for his life, Wen Xi just... shoots him. No hesitation. No moral wrestling. That's the same woman who couldn't bring herself to stay in one place after helping those two. She's not cruel—she literally just gave away food and medicine—but she's also completely done performing kindness for people who would exploit it. The grandfather understood that about her in a way no one else seems to. I keep wondering if we'll see them again. That little girl with the startlingly bright eyes—she felt like someone the story wouldn't just discard. Does Wen Xi go back? Does she use the Virtual Identity App to check on them? I need to know.
Hello great author, I'm a huge fan of your work! Your book left a lasting impression on me, and I believe it has the potential to reach even more readers. I'd be honored to share some thoughts on how to enhance its impact and visibility. Would you be open to hearing my thoughts?
Looks like an interesting start to a great novel! I'm looking forward to see where it goes - the scene is beautifully set, and the world is incredible!
I loved this book, it is very nice, the subject fascinated me, Ali's struggle to find his family is very good.I loved this book, it is very nice, the subject fascinated me, Ali's struggle to find his family is very good.
While 'Kente' offers a unique premise, the pacing felt uneven at times. Certain chapters were densely packed with information, making it challenging to stay engaged. A more balanced distribution of plot development and character exploration could enhance the reading experience.
so far the novel is wonderful to read and to listen to, it is easy to understand yet it has depth. keep up the good work!!!☺️
?????????????????? i hope you'll not drope

Aaaahhh!! I am OBSESSED with this book!! Found it through recommendations, started reading for FPs, but omggg the story is amazing. Sucked right into his world/setting, with amazing characters and major and minor plots so intricately woven - I binged until no more chapters, then waited until there were (what I thought was) enough new chapters to binge, and now here I am at ch. 96 I think, maybe 98, and I'm FIENDING for more. Gave coins, FPs, powers tones, golden tickets whatever I can - just take it all lmao - bc this story, with the FL and ML (ESP him ??), ugh so worth it. A few typos here and there, but nothing too major to interrupt the story. And it has to be said, for a dark story esp, to go almost 100 ch.s with no explicit sex but still have us hooked like this...Author - all the applause, bows, and chef's kisses. Thank you for such an addictive, gritty, well thought-out characters and story!! ?????? Literally cannot WAIT for more chapters - I mean, just ALL of them lol seriously, thank you for this! ?u200d↕️???
The story's attention to detail is truly remarkable. The world is vividly crafted, drawing readers into its immersive setting. The characters are rich and multifaceted, each with their own unique layers. I can't wait to see how the plot unfolds in the upcoming chapters!
