Let's talk about stakes because this chapter is STACKED with them. Bai Xiaotong's entire plan has collapsed. She went in trying to trap Chen Xiangjun and ended up with Lu Ling instead. She's now pregnant — she can't even take medication for it. She has to maintain a cover story with her best friend. She has to navigate a factory full of people who are actively trying to catch her in a scandal. And she's doing all of this while carrying the weight of knowing what her original fate would have been. The external conflict is obvious — Hu Xiulan is plotting against her, the gossiping masses are circling like vultures, and Lu Ling is this unpredictable variable who could either save her or destroy her depending on what he decides. But the internal conflict is where this really gets good. Bai Xiaotong is terrified of the baby. Her hands tremble just thinking about it. But somewhere underneath that fear, there's this voice telling her she has to keep it. That this child is somehow connected to the second chance she's been given. That's a deeply personal, intimate stake — she's not just fighting for her reputation or her future husband, she's fighting for a life that's already growing inside her. And the suspense is maintained perfectly. Every time Bai Xiaotong thinks she's safe — like when she's walking out the front gate — the reader knows there could be another trap waiting. Hu Xiulan is smart. She won't give up. The factory environment is claustrophobic, everyone knows everyone's business, and there's nowhere to hide. The author makes you feel that pressure constantly, and it's genuinely thrilling.
This chapter is full of symbolism that I only caught on the second read, and now I can't stop thinking about it. The central symbol is cleanliness — or rather, the obsession with it. Shi Jinnian has a 'cleanliness obsession,' a psychological condition where he can't stand things he finds dirty. But what's fascinating is how this maps onto the emotional landscape of the story. Jiang Feng is 'dirty' — not just physically, but morally. He's vulgar, manipulative, and represents everything Shi Jinnian despises. Jiang Mian, on the other hand, is 'clean' in a completely different way. His innocence, his simplicity, his lack of guile — these are forms of purity that Shi Jinnian is drawn to. The hand-washing scene is the most powerful symbol in the chapter. Jiang Mian washes his hands twice, disinfects them, because he wants to be acceptable to Shi Jinnian. He's performing cleanliness as an act of love, or at least as an act of survival. Meanwhile, Shi Jinnian can't accept the egg roll because he feels contaminated by Jiang Feng's touch — his cleanliness obsession becomes a barrier to intimacy. Then there's the egg roll itself. Food as comfort, as connection, as the first taste of something good in a life that's been nothing but hardship. Jiang Mian sharing it with the ants — his 'good friends' — shows how he finds warmth in the smallest things. And the pink sweatshirt, the autumn sunlight, the lawn... these are all symbols of a world Jiang Mian has never experienced, a world of beauty and warmth that exists just beyond the basement. The theme that ties it all together is belonging. Jiang Mian is constantly afraid of being kicked out, of not being clean enough, of not being worthy. But Shi Jinnian has never considered letting him go. The question the chapter asks is simple but devastating: who is actually dirty in this story?
Five beautiful chapters because this book is AMAZING! And I am not deceiving anyone here!Starting of with how I was introduced to the story...it was a brilliant move and way only this dearest author could weave around very well and excellently! The plot of the book is a literal masterpiece and there are a lot of shocking plot twist I am yet to recover from and it's fascinating how each word, line and sentences have this unique flow and they just connect which makes my overall reading experience with this book heaven!!!!The book is nicely written. Lemme say that again; THE BOOK IS WRITTEN PERFECTLY! I encountered no troubles reading this book. There were no grammatical blunders or annoying plot holes that might interfere with the overall reading experience of this book! Having read just five chapters of the book is leaving me with this deep sense of craving to go back and read more. To know what's going to happen to the M/C after she found out that...(Click on the book, add it to your library and start reading to know what! ?)This book is going to worth your time and I can promise it's going to be one of the best books you've ever read on this amazing platform!A big cheers to the dearest author for sharing this story with us<3
This story has a pretty unique concept... First Legacy, now Flairs.? I wonder what will be your third book is.But hey, in a very serious note, this one is dope though I still like Zeno than Efraim. Keep up the good work author!
Ong have the soldier lady oiled up next volume cause oh boy you have a work of peak fiction In the works. Have the soldier lady reward the MC by rubbing her melons in his face too or something then it'd be A 10/10 Shakespearean masterpiece.
not bad overall if you're finding a new book to read.
Shameless Author here. If I don't rate my own novel a 5 star who will? Here's my review: An amazing novel with an amazing world with amazing characters that have amazing power systems!!Also the mc has some cool dragon powers!!
Not the best thing i've ever read of course, not by a long shot but i do see some potential. the world background is very mediocre. the writing style leaves much to be desired like how you use a lot of "..." in every dialogue so u can reduce the usage of this. There are very few grammatical mistakes so that's good but that can also be improved. all in all i'll pay attention to you for a while.
The book is well paced, but unfortunately, I am very thrown off by the cluelessness of the group? I know I read a lot of random stuff, so my knowledge base can be considered weird, but the things that the MC seems to need to explain to engineering students seem fairly basic, and something they really should know. Im not sure if it's something the author did due to the potential audience, or if his group is just uninformed about the topics for some reason?
This is a fantastic fantasy novel, with intricate design of system! It's really fast pace, thrilling, and most of all, gripping FUN!The writing is also fire too. Smooth flow and seamless description. Please check this out! The author is really crafting this with extreme dedication!
I can’t get enough of Ethan and Mia’s dynamic. The banter between them is so much fun to read! Can't wait for new chapter my friend recommend this and i totally recommend you this
Fast paced and right into the action. I like how MC gets to be powerful without any unnecessary debuffs. Looking forward to how the story of Riley unfolds in this XianXia world.
