I need to talk about Qin Yi because this man is a walking contradiction and I am OBSESSED. On one hand he's the guy who stays in the administrative department specifically because there are attractive women there—he literally admits this to himself. On the other hand he's genuinely devoted to his wife, cooks her nourishing meals, and gets this warm feeling in his chest when she gets angry on his behalf. The scene where Su Xiaowan threatens to "check homework" and he immediately rushes to the kitchen to cook is both hilarious and weirdly sweet. But what really gets me is how transparent he thinks he's being versus how much his wife actually knows. Su Xiaowan picked out most of his clothes, she knows his schedule, she has someone investigating the Red Horse Club, and she let him believe the crisis passed when really she already had the full picture. She even covers for Nian being her informant. This woman is playing 4D chess while her husband thinks he's being sneaky. And yet—their relationship genuinely feels healthy in a twisted way. She doesn't divorce him when she finds out about the club visits because she knows it's just his "eyes indulging." She sets boundaries and he respects them. That's actually more realistic than a lot of romance novels I've read. The dynamic with Yi Bohao is also fascinating because he's positioned as the childhood crush who supposedly only has brotherly feelings now, but his sudden generosity and involvement in their business feels like the setup for a major betrayal. Qin Yi's instinct that Yi Bohao has ulterior motives is probably right, and that's going to make the fallout so much more interesting.
