The stakes in this passage are incredibly high, and I love how the author builds tension through both external and internal conflict. On the external side, you have two people who are completely disoriented in an unfamiliar future, surrounded by strangers who claim to be their children. That's a lot to process. But the internal conflict is where it really gets intense. Xia Zhi's fear of Wen Shihan is such a great detail. She's always been intimidated by authority figures—her parents, her teachers, her boss—and now she's supposed to be married to that same boss? The irony is almost too much. She literally says, 'It felt as terrifying as someone telling her the world would end tomorrow.' That's not an exaggeration for her. This is her deepest fear made real. And then there's Wen Shihan. He's this composed, controlled man who seems capable of handling anything, but even he is visibly shaken. The author describes him with 'faint streaks of gray' in his hair, a small detail that speaks volumes about the twenty years he's lost. He's not just dealing with memory loss—he's dealing with the loss of his entire life, his children, his wife, and he has no framework to process any of it. The suspense is maintained masterfully too. Every chapter ends on a note that makes you want to keep reading. The calendar reveal, the TV news confirmation, the request for the marriage certificate and family photo album—each one raises the stakes higher. What's in that photo album? Will they find proof of their life together? And what happens when they do? I am genuinely invested in figuring out what comes next.
"She must remember this. She must remember it well. He was far too clever. She must never let her quiet crush on him show." I have never felt more for a character in my entire life. Wen Qingli's internal monologue in this chapter is just... devastatingly beautiful. She's married to the man she's secretly in love with, and she's walking this razor's edge every single day. The moment Lu Zheng asks "Did something upset you at work today?" and she finally works up the courage to ask if he regrets their marriage—her fingers tightening around the glass, her lips bitten, her lashes casting shadows on her toes. The author captured that specific anxiety of loving someone who might not love you back, even though you're technically their spouse. And then the Bai Chuxue revelation! Wen Qingli thinks Lu Zheng and his first love are back in each other's lives, and she's already preparing to let him go: "If you want a divorce, we can go to the Civil Affairs Bureau tomorrow." She's being so selfless and it's heartbreaking. But then he explains everything—Bai Chuxue was just a neighbor, never dated, no feelings. And that "quiet, sweet joy began to bloom deep inside her, impossible to hide." But it doesn't last. Because right after that high, he says he doesn't need love. The emotional rollercoaster is relentless and I am not okay.
I need to talk about Ji Junjiao because THIS MAN is absolutely cracked and I love him for it. Let me paint the scene for you: He walks in on a woman who is essentially in her underwear. His immediate reaction? Drops the curtain, spins around, flees the room like the demon of temptation is chasing him. His voice is DESPERATE. 'I-I see... I was... too presumptuous...' BRO. You pulled the curtain aside like it was nothing and then acted like YOU were the one who did something wrong?? And the best part—Qin Buwen is watching him through the gauzy curtain and she's just... smiling. She notes that he's 'an upright gentleman through and through.' This is someone who has literally seen her in a state of undress and his brain short-circuited so hard he forgot how to function. That's not just integrity, that's a supernatural level of propriety. But then—cut to him later, calm and composed with Yan Tang, discussing letters and investigations like a cold political machine. The man is TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE depending on which room he's in. With Yan Tang, he's sharp, dismissive, almost cruel ('I doubt anything could escape your notice'). With Qin Buwen, he's a blushing mess who can't even look at a curtain properly. And what about Yan Tang and Qin Buwen's flashback? 'Do you dare to gamble?' She's fourteen, radiating overwhelming pressure, and he pledges his life to her. The trust between them runs DEEP. That's why the letter destroys him—it's not just curiosity, it's hope. After five years of believing she's dead, someone is feeding him the possibility that she isn't. No wonder he's coughing blood. The relationship web in this novel is absolutely exquisite.
I really liked the use of Grammer and the general setting of the story as well as the plot though I'm struggling with the pronunciation of these names I look forward to future chapters
I love the pacing and structure of the novel—it flows smoothly and keeps me engaged. The attention to detail is impressive, making the world feel immersive. It’s a strong start with great potential for even more growth. Keep up the amazing work, author!

Great book and my favorite book after Darius supreme (your books)The only complain i have isThe stats,it doesn't make sense that everyone has an equal stat but the stat output is different... A dragon with a stat of 5 and a human with a stat of 5 aren't equal in strength? Since their lineage is unequal why not show that inequality in stats.. It'll help readers understand how certain battles will be fought and know the superiority of race rather than the race rankingPlease I hope you consider my point
Good Novel with great potential.Worth Reading.Looking forward to more chapters.
I lost interest as of chapter 14, the concept of it i like, but as much as I know, he is in a new place and keeps getting terrified by dreams, he is to much of a yes man, and I despise people like that more then anything
Another mc that has enough money to buy the world but acts like a chaeffur.
This is my first romance, slice of life, urban story in webnovel, and i like it! The story is interesting with beautiful heroine. I will keep reading!
