I need to talk about the pacing in these chapters because the author is a absolute menace when it comes to reader engagement. Let me trace the tension arc here. We start with the family doing their night runs — tense but controlled. The dog incident raises the stakes but they handle it. They get to the cave, there's this moment of warmth and accomplishment. Then — BAM — Old Lady Tián and Wang Jinhua are already suspicious. The morning probe with Liú Dàbǎo pounding on the door. Liú Xiǎomǎn's quick thinking with the cough and the damp hay. They survive that. Then she goes out during the day and discovers Dàbǎo is doing FIXED-POINT SURVEILLANCE. The plan is strangled before it can breathe. So she goes home, drops the act, and becomes this cold, calculating strategist. Sets traps with Ghost Thorn Vine sap and beast-repelling powder. The night scene where she's working — crouching, mixing, applying — that's building tension. And then the dog barks! Heart skip! But it passes. She finishes. Returns. Tells her mother not to make a sound no matter what. And then Liú Dàbǎo's screams. The whole village erupts. And Liú Xiǎomǎn just... listens calmly. Like she heard the wind. Victory. Relief. A faint smile. And then THE ALARM. "WARNING! Significant change detected in world rules. Emergency main quest released!" I literally gasped. The author gives us this perfect moment of triumph — the surveillance threat is neutralized, the family is safe, the home is secure — and then yanks the rug out from under us with the most urgent, soul-rending system alert in the book. It's like the story is saying: you thought you were safe? Cute. The chapter structure here is masterful. Each scene escalates the threat, each resolution creates a new problem, and the final cliffhanger makes it impossible NOT to turn the page. This is how you control reader engagement — not by constant action, but by carefully modulating tension like a musician modulating volume.
Let's talk about the STAKES here, because this author does NOT play around. We've now had THREE separate life-threatening incidents involving Yun Shu in just three chapters. First the harassment at the restaurant triggers her heart condition. Then the nightmare causes another cardiac episode. And now we're told she needs a HEART TRANSPLANT or she'll progress to heart failure. The author keeps cranking the dial upward and I am HERE FOR IT. But what really makes the conflict work is that it's not just external danger—it's internal too. Yun Shu's own body is literally working against her. She has a congenital heart condition that she's been managing her whole life, and now it's getting worse. The medical details are surprisingly specific: 'the echo is stronger than last time,' 'structural abnormalities exceed normal expectations,' 'conventional surgical approaches carry extremely high risk.' This isn't vague fictional medicine, this is real-sounding, researched stuff that makes the danger feel ACTUAL. And then there's the political conflict with Brother Qiang. He's clearly someone with local influence—Shi Muchuan even wonders if he has backing. That phone call Shi Muchuan makes? 'Help me take care of something.' That's not just a doctor being concerned, that's someone with POWER pulling strings. The conflict layers on top of each other like a sandwich of dread.
hi it's the author , this book is just a personal thing, but i decided to just publish it here ... anyway Ultimately, readers can expect a dark, immersive, and thought-provoking story that combines action, emotion, and mystery—leading to a climactic journey of self-discovery, survival, and the emergence of a powerful force tied to ancient secrets.

Such an as-(Stares at barrel of thy pew pew) Ahem- Very very good writing, I enjoy it so far, keep up the very high quality work my introverted friend
Great story, nice flow and detailed well thought out characters, I am still wondering why the author doesn't want to go premium but it's good to build a fan base first and this tale will get it. Keep on writing! As an invested reader I will keep waiting for the next chapter! ?
It's such a great experience to learn from a pro at horror? I love the setting, and the built up tension? Allen is a complex fella with a busy mind, mostly I think he should focus on himself.
"Papyri of Thebes" is an engaging and thrilling novel that takes you on a journey full of mystery and conflict. The detailed world-building and complex characters make the story vivid and captivating. However, at times, the pacing feels rushed, with some moments deserving more depth to enhance the emotional impact. Still, it’s a compelling read that leaves you eager for what’s next!
