The way this batch moves is honestly impressive. Let me walk through it. Chapter 7 starts in a lecture hall—academic, exposition-heavy, but the author keeps it alive by having Jiang Luokui internally connect dots the other students miss. The mortality rate, the teaching of freshmen, the disaster timeline. In under thirty minutes of real-time classroom action, we get world-building, character establishment, and plot setup all at once. Then bam—rice seeds. The pacing accelerates. Jiang stands up, walks to the podium, makes her request. The scene plays out in real time with the class watching her like she's lost her mind. This is where the chapter should end, right? But no. It continues into Chapter 8 with the aftermath—Lin Zihan shaking her, the betting pool reveal, and then the Li Jueyan confrontation. And then—chapter break. We cut to the charity institute. The tone shifts completely. From academic drama to quiet, almost domestic scenes of steamed buns and bus rides. Then straight into the Li family patriarch's study. The pacing here is deliberately slower, more deliberate, letting the weight of Uncle Li's return sink in. Chapter 9 drops us back into Jiang's daily routine—checking scallions, testing her ability, messaging Wang Meng, going to the cafeteria. The return to mundane activity after the family drama is a smart structural choice. It gives the reader a breather while still advancing the plot. The ability test scene is short but effective. And ending on the cafeteria pot-renting scene? Perfect cliffhanger-adjacent moment. She's setting up her cooking plans, the cafeteria auntie is being helpful, and there's this little chef grumbling in the background. The story never stops moving, but it knows when to breathe.
The atmosphere in these chapters is absolutely suffocating and I mean that in the best way possible. The author doesn't need fancy descriptions—they just drop you into scenes and the tension does all the work. Take the opening: the Crown Prince is furious, Zhe Junwu is trembling, and the parrot is just... there. 'Maomao probably heard it.' The parrot is basically a witness to everything, a little green feathered spy that nobody can fully control. And the poem it recites—'Your Highness—Your Highness—The mountains have trees, and the trees have branches—You delight in me, but I know not'—this is actually a real classical Chinese poem, and the fact that it's being chanted by a parrot in a palace setting is strangely perfect. It's innocent on the surface but loaded with meaning. The Nanshu Fang scenes are another highlight. Early morning, before dawn, September still cold. 'Eunuch Liu carried a hexagonal palace lantern, its dim yellow light illuminating the ground just enough to light the way ahead.' This is such a specific, cinematic detail. You can SEE this. The dim light, the cold air, the Crown Prince walking alone to study. It paints this picture of a young man who is both privileged and imprisoned by his position. And the aviary! Xia Yin is described as 'a round-faced girl with two dimples when she smiled,' quiet and steady. It's such a small detail but it immediately establishes her as a safe harbor for Zhe Junwu. The contrast between Chunyin (talkative, sharp, suspicious) and Xia Yin (quiet, steady, smiling) creates this whole ecosystem of palace servants who are all navigating the same dangerous waters in different ways. The scene where Zhe Junwu walks back to her room and 'the few steps from the door to her bed felt as if she were walking on air—nothing felt solid or certain'—this is masterful. The physical sensation of disbelief after surviving another day. The palace isn't just a setting; it's a character that breathes and threatens and devours.
'You're a beauty yourself. Could you at least wipe your drool?' I cannot stop laughing at this. The System has zero chill and I love it. Their entire dynamic is basically: Su Tian is delusional and the System is her sarcastic best friend who won't let her lie to herself. But the real vocal fireworks happen with Sikong Ji. The man says approximately three words per sentence and somehow it's more impactful than anyone else's dialogue in the book. 'You're in the way.' 'Dump that useless man sooner rather than later.' 'Wait here for me.' That's it. That's all he says and Su Tian is over here having an existential crisis. The contrast between his voice and everyone else's is what makes the dialogue work. Assistant Li is polite and procedural—'Miss, are you all right?' 'Let's go, we need to go down to the basement level for the X-ray.' He's basically a plot device with a name. The chief physician? 'Check her lip too.' 'You'll need an X-ray to see if there's any bone damage.' Functional. The System? Chaotic energy. And Su Tian's internal monologue is where the real voice lives—rambling, self-deprecating, oscillating between 'I can do this' and 'what have I become.' The author's narrative voice is dry and observant, never over-explaining, letting the dialogue carry the emotion. It's a style that rewards attention.
Hello, author here!I developed this story thinking about our own stories. Stories of daily struggle and overcoming where self-knowledge is so important these days. Just like our lives, our love doesn't fall from the sky and isn't so obvious to our eyes. The initial focus of the plot is not this, but I guarantee that just like it happens with each one of us, we will have struggles, victories and defeats and disappointments...It's basically: What if... suddenly magic came to our world? I imagine it could be like that (with a lot of exaggeration in the script, of course haha). I hope you like it, sincerely, I wrote it from the bottom of my heart and I appreciate a story with strong emotional depth. Take care <3
Is there romance in this novel? please no it holds back the MC
Starts off really well, I don't remember the last time I read something thats interest me. great job
What can i say, its just great. keep up the good work or:
Great Novel! The characters are well written an feel pretty real, they dont feel like cheap cardboard. The only issue i have with this which is a personal one and not one most people would have is the main character. Hes just simply not strong enough. Dont get me wron his progression in both strength and character have been great, but ive read many novels with the same premise so its gotten kinda boring for me. Im half tempted to write a fanfic on this where everything is the same .
This one is great. Realy worth burning your coins on each chapter. So far no regrets picking this one from the start. Love how the characters were build up. The story line are clear and no confusing scence with how the realms were introduced. Really love this and the characters. Loving Li Hua more. Looking forward on new chapters.
