Potaty
The dialogue in this section is genuinely excellent because every character has a completely distinct voice and you never confuse them. Shen Yi is the standout—he's theatrical, self-obsessed, and absolutely relentless. 'Little A-Li, it's rude not to look at someone when they're talking to you~' followed by an exaggerated wink. The man has zero shame and the author writes him with such comedic timing that you can't help but laugh even though everyone else in the scene is suffering. His delivery of 'His precious little sister' when revealing Xiao Yu's soft spot is perfectly timed cruelty. Xiao Yu's voice is the contrast—measured, controlled, gentle when he chooses to be. The repetition of 'Let's ignore him, alright?' mirroring how he spoke to Xiao Li is a brilliant subtle detail that the text layers in without any narration telling you it's significant. And A-Li's dialogue is deceptively simple. Her lines are short, direct, almost blunt. 'No. Men and women should keep a proper distance.' 'I was going to that day.' She doesn't perform or embellish, which makes her emotional revelations land even harder because she never tries to make them dramatic. The author trusts the dialogue to carry the weight.
The sensory details in this chapter are absolutely incredible. Let me just start with the kitchen scene—the way the author describes Chang Jinhua cooking. She dips a corner of a wooden spatula into the oil jar, cuts celery into long sections, washes it twice. The 'strange aroma of the vegetables burst forth.' You can literally SMELL this scene. And the fine rice that she secretly uses for Meng Wan instead of the coarse rice she normally eats? That detail tells you everything about her character without her saying a word. Then there's the vegetable garden—'Stones and yellow mud were piled up to knee height, and half-meter-long brambles were stuck on top.' This is such a specific, grounded detail. It's not just 'a garden.' It's a fortified little plot of land that this widow has carved out for herself in a world that probably wants to crush her. And the moonlight scene! 'In the middle of the night, Chang Jinhua tiptoed through a crack in the door and peeked inside by the moonlight. Meng Wan was already fast asleep, wrapped in a thin blanket.' This is so intimate and so quiet. The cool summer breeze, the open window, the moonlight filtering through the door crack. It's a moment of pure tenderness between two people who barely know each other, and it's captured in just a few sentences. The author also does an amazing job with the village atmosphere—the gossiping neighbors, the closed gate, the way everyone knows everyone's business but nobody actually says anything directly. Zhang Xiaoyu 'wished he could walk around the village entrance three times to talk about Widow Song's son' but was too afraid of her. This is a world where reputation is everything, and being a widow who buys a slave is VERY interesting gossip.

I'm gonna review it five stars, that's all.
I hate the ML. I think there should be a second ML that better
A simple premise: world ended, how to fix it? Yet even with a simple idea, one can find a lot of heart in a story like this. The story has a good amount of world building to kick off the plot without raising too many questions. And even when questions come up, it feels like they’re addressed swiftly while still making it feel like there’s more to discover later on.Writing is polished and clean, a welcome surprise given how often the story is updated (sometimes multiples chapters a day!).I can’t get enough of the character interactions. They’re fun, heartfelt, and even at their silliest moments, it feels like most interactions carry tidbits of hidden meaning if one wants to ponder further upon the themes and messages behind lines. Or you can take it at face value and also enjoy simplicity. There’s something for everyone.Highly recommend giving this story a try. Hoping to see more people become crab enjoyers.
