Okay, I need to talk about this scene in the greenhouse because my heart is literally still recovering. The way Fu Cheng Shen just appears and kisses her—no warning, no soft lead-in, just suddenly his mouth on hers and she's panicking because they're literally at his family's house. And then she BIT his tongue. I screamed. I actually said 'yes' out loud to my phone. But here's what wrecked me: after he steps away, she's sitting there crying and the narration says 'After her family members passed away one after another, she thought she had forgotten how to cry.' That line hit me like a truck. She's been holding it together for everyone—the Fu family, her career, this whole situation—and the moment she's alone with him, even just emotionally, everything cracks. She can't indulge in recklessness, she says, but of course she wants to. That's the whole tragedy of them. And Fu Cheng Shen? He doesn't leave. He just stands by the fishpond and smokes. Two packs a day when he was starting out, the text tells us. The man who has everything but can't have her in a place where everyone knows who she is to him. The tension between them isn't just romantic—it's suffocating. Every glance, every almost-touch, every time he looks at her like she's the only real thing in the room. I'm not okay.
You know what's amazing about this text? The dialogue is almost entirely understated, and that's what makes it hit so hard. Let's look at Grandpa Qin's few lines. He asks Qin Ziheng: "Do you know him? He has big eyes, a fair clean little face, so pretty. If you see him, tell him to come home after school to see his grandfather. Grandfather misses him." That's it. That's the entire personality of this man in three sentences. He's proud of his grandson, he's gentle, he's simple. And he calls him "Bao Wa'er"—a nickname that's clearly full of affection. The author doesn't need to describe Grandpa Qin's face or his voice; the dialogue does it all. Then Qin Ziheng's response: nothing. "Every time, it cut Qin Ziheng to the heart, choked him so he couldn't get out a single word." The silence IS the dialogue here. His inability to speak is more eloquent than any speech ever could be. And the present-day interactions? Even more sparse. "Xiao Heng, you're back?" "Mm." That's it. Two words from Qin Ziheng to his uncle, and you can feel the entire history of their relationship in that single syllable. The awkwardness, the distance, the unspoken resentment—all compressed into one sound. Qin Ziwen's dialogue is different: "Big brother." Just two words, but the honesty and warmth in them is immediate. And Qin Ziheng's response—ruffling his hair, telling him to focus on the exam—shows a completely different side of him. With Qin Ziwen, he's not the successful elite; he's just the older cousin who cares. The shopkeeper's wife and the young bride's conversation is more chatty, more expository, but it serves a purpose—it's the outside world's perspective on Qin Ziheng, the gossip and curiosity that frames him before he even appears. And when the shopkeeper's wife says "Oh! Bao Wa'er's back," the entire village shifts. Everyone turns to look. The dialogue triggers the scene. The author's narrative voice is also worth noting—it's observant, empathetic, never judgmental. It describes Qin Ziheng's appearance with genuine admiration ("a walking suit-clad heartbreaker") but never mocks the villagers for being awestruck. The tone is warm, like someone telling you a story they care about.

Well I’m hoping Matthew changes because he is being quite the jerk right now. I wonder what Sarah did that was to horrible. How can you justify the treatment?
Nice book in the now teeming Magus trend. The author's narrative is very simple, so it's easy to read. Looking from his previous work, this is a great improvement. Already in my library.
FIVE STARS SINCE THIS NOVEL WILL REMAIN FREE BECAUSE I DON'T THINK I WILL PUT THAT MUCH EFFORT INTO THIS NOVEL SO I DONT WANT PEOPLE SPENDING MONEY FOR SOMETHING THAT WON'T BE THAT GOOD WORTH SPENDING MONEY ON. AGAIN, THIS WILL BE A COMPLETELY FREE NOVEL. JUST A NOVEL TO KEEP ME INSPIRED.
This novel is great to pass the time. Although there mare few chapters I think with more chapters it will be great
I have enjoyed this story. Through the authors words I was able to imagine the development of Tupac . I would recommend if to anyone that wants to read about the authors idea of Tupac's biography. I don't know enough to say what is different from reality. Again, I enjoyed the story. However, i feel like I was brought here with a bait and switch tag "reborn". The main character does not seem to be aware that he is reborn so I don't understand why the tag has been used.
