I need to talk about Hu Xiuchun because this woman is a whole mood and also deeply, deeply tragic. Let's be real—she came into this family as a mistress, a woman who had to hide in the gutter and pray to replace the first wife. And what did she get? A smaller portrait. That's it. That's her legacy. The family photo literally shows her as inferior. She spent years being subservient to the fake young master, taking orders from the boy she was supposed to be raising as her own tool. And now her beauty salon investment is gone, her husband is punishing her financially, and she's still trying to scheme her way to relevance. The line that broke me was when she thought: "If she couldn't touch the dead first wife's eldest son or the fake son, couldn't she at least touch her youngest son?!" That's not just revenge—that's a woman who has been powerless her entire life lashing out at the only person she CAN control. She's not evil for the sake of being evil. She's evil because she was made small for so long and now she's trying to make someone else small too. And Su Mingjie! Oh my god, Su Mingjie. The way he looks at Hu Xiuchun—with pure contempt, thinking she's "good for nothing but sabotage"—while simultaneously using her. He drafted that apology himself because he realized she couldn't be trusted to do it right. The fake young master who's actually the real son's rival, playing the innocent victim online while secretly plotting to ensure Su Zhisheng never comes home. Their dynamic is so toxic it's almost beautiful. He needs her money and connections, she needs his approval, and neither of them actually sees the other as human. Then there's Su Zhisheng and his adoptive mother Su Yingmei. The scene where she pulls out that yellow sweater she knitted—"By this winter, you'll be able to wear it"—and he's just sitting there holding her hand like he's memorizing warmth. That's the only pure relationship in this entire novel. Everyone else is calculating. Everyone else is using. But those two? They just love each other. And it hurts because we all know the Su family is going to try to tear that apart.
I need to talk about how this chapter moves. The pacing is actually really well-controlled. You start with the immediate problem - identity confirmed, what now? Then Ning Sang drops the variety show idea like it's no big deal, but it's actually a huge plot pivot. The chapter then shifts to Nie Fuyao's perspective, giving us her backstory in a quick but effective flashback. She was a professor, academician, all before dying and waking up in this girl's body. That's heavy information to drop, but it's done efficiently. Then we cut to the hospital scene with Feng Zhan - and this is where I think the pacing really shines. The author could have spent pages on the medical procedure, but instead we get the essence: he's young, brilliant, intimidating. The wall pin happens almost as a side note to the main action (people rushing down the corridor), which makes it feel organic rather than forced. And then the pheromone explanation? That's a perfect pacing choice - it gives us breath after the romantic tension, then sets up future development. The chapter ends with Nie Lingchuan's internal panic about his company and competitors, which raises the stakes just as we're settling into the romantic subplot. It's like the author is saying 'don't get too comfortable, there's more coming.' The structure moves from problem to solution to new character introduction to romantic moment to external threat. That's a lot of ground to cover, but it never feels rushed or dragged out. Each beat lands.
20 chapters in, and the story itself hasn't even actually started yet. Not to mention the MC is like a broken record that keeps on repeating the same things over and over and over again

super good book, recommended for anyone looking for a good fantasy novel to read
Myalis is an incredible high fantasy epic! The way you blend political intrigue, deep world-building, and intense action is truly captivating. Caelum’s journey to restore his fallen kingdom’s honor is both thrilling and emotionally complex, especially with the deadly tournament and shifting alliances. The relationships between the six divided nations are so well-crafted, and every twist kept me on the edge of my seat.As a reader, I was hooked from start to finish. Your ability to weave suspense and moral complexity into every character’s story is fantastic. Fans of intricate politics and high-stakes adventure will definitely love this. Can't wait to see what comes next!
I'm not really a historical fiction fan, but this story has me intrigued. Everything about the story is so detailed that I'm really curious to see how this story goes.
The story starts with an interesting idea, combining growth, power, and a unique world. The pacing is normal, making it easy to follow, and the challenges faced by the protagonist are meaningful. The writing is clear, though minor grammar issues might distract some readers. Overall, it's a promising start with good potential for improvement and development.
I absolutely love this book ?Keep up the good work.
