Okay so let me just say this: You Chumu is the most terrifying character I have EVER encountered in fiction and I need a moment. The whole dynamic between him and Xu Chi is just... unhinged in the best possible way. Xu Chi KNOWS this guy is a madman. He literally thinks about it constantly: "No one understood better than him, having been fed the entire story, what kind of madman You Chumu really was." And yet he's stuck playing house with him, cooking noodles, buying slippers, trying to figure out how to get rid of him. The sheer desperation in Xu Chi's internal monologue is everything. But You Chumu... god. The way he watches Xu Chi sleep. The way he pokes his face like he's testing whether it's real. "Brother, you're so much fun." He says it with this childlike glee while literally manhandling a sleeping man's face. And then the next morning he just casually drops "Yes" when asked if he watched him all night. NO REGRETS. Just a bright smile. What gets me is how You Chumu mirrors Xu Chi's movements perfectly — brushing teeth at the same time, learning from him. It's like he's studying a specimen, except the specimen is also the only person who's been kind to him. The lab conditioning is so baked into his behavior that he can't even process normal human interaction without turning it into something obsessive. And Xu Chi's lying about snoring and sleepwalking — I literally laughed out loud. The man is so desperate to avoid sharing a bed with a yandere villain that he's inventing entire sleep disorders. "I also talk in my sleep and hit people." Bro, you're trying to scare him away and you just made yourself sound like a nightmare. The power dynamic is so twisted. Xu Chi thinks he's the one in control because he's the one with the story knowledge, but You Chumu has been watching him sleep for seven hours straight. Who really holds the power here?
Okay I need to talk about Chu Xiao showing up at the end because MY HEART. Like, let me set the scene first: Shen Yu just got through this absolutely brutal morning where she's surrounded by hostile servants, a venomous steward trying to poison her with Croton powder disguised as "Great Tonic Soup," and everyone waiting for her to fail. She's playing this delicate, terrified little bird, but we KNOW she's actually a modern woman with a system who just outsmarted the entire courtyard. And then—CLATTER CLATTER—the sound of wooden wheels. She turns around and there he is. The Living Yama King. Pale, cold, radiating killing intent from his wheelchair, and he SAW everything. He saw her fake trembling. He saw the cunning flash in her eyes when she let go of that bowl. And instead of ordering her executed, he just... watched. Let her perform. That's the most romantic tension I've read in months and I'm not even mad about it. The way the author writes their dynamic is *chef's kiss*. He doesn't say a word. He just sits there, observing, and she doesn't beg for mercy either. She looks at the soup splattered on Li Quan's feet with pure disgust, then casually strolls back inside like nothing happened. Who does this woman think she is? I love her. And Chu Xiao? The man who could snap a beauty's neck without blinking chose to let her live. Chose to watch her play this game. That's not nothing. That's the beginning of something, and I am HERE for it.
I like this. There are traumas out there and this is one of them being in the shadow of your sister can be so devastating and being unloved by your parents is even worse. I hope she gets the love she deserves ?

Love this book! It’s quite a gem ? Talk about an Empress going through a rebirth or transmigrating from the 1500s to the 21st century. Luckily she has the guidance and the memories of the character she ended up in. It’s entertaining to read about a FL that are strong minded, confident and courageous. It makes the story fun and intro to read to see how the FL will take her revenge on the people that are anchoring her down. And giving justice to the soul of the original owner of the body she transmigrated into. It’s also GREAT she isn’t hung-up on her stupid betrothed. I love that she has a better man that will be by her side.
I don't know if this is really your first work , ?but blud your writings quality is top. I never did Chinese history, but I like the way things are going.Also, make the system a little nicer???

The cur.ses will most likely remind you of JJK ?u200d↕️ the start is good, although it had many information that if you skim, it's a little bit hard to register. I love it when the something like [The cursed energy is showing interest in you], I definitely will read more ♡＾▽＾♡
