"The State of Yue has no shortage of talents. It is nothing strange for someone to be better than me." SAYING THE QUIET PART LOUD, BROTHER. You absolutely noticed she's from your country. You absolutely paid attention to her score. And when Fan Li teases him about knowing her, he doesn't even deny it. He just says "Yes" like a man who's already made up his mind. But then he flips it: "If anything, she has a secret crush on me." BRO. Who says that? Who is so confidently delusional? And yet — I believe him. Not because I think Lin Lumi is crushing on him (though the text seems to hint at something), but because Mu Heng operates on a wavelength where he assumes people are interested in him and then gets annoyed when they're not. The backstory dump about Fan Li, Wei Lingfeng, and Mu Heng founding the Mystic Law Hall together was also surprisingly emotional. Three kids — twelve or thirteen years old — dragging each other through life-and-death missions for five years to build something from nothing. That's not just backstory, that's a bond forged in fire. And now they're using that same dynamic to recruit talents. Mu Heng gets the rewards, Fan Li gets the power, Wei Lingfeng gets freedom. Everyone got what they wanted, except... something feels unresolved about Mu Heng. He's always been the one who takes the lion's share. What does he actually want beyond wealth and power? Also Hua Tian and Lin Lumi's friendship in Chapter 14 is so sweet. Hua Tian practicing desperately while Lin Lumi reads leisurely — and then Lin Lumi noticing and asking what's wrong. That's the kind of quiet friendship moment that makes you want to scream. Why can't all novel friendships be this natural?
