What keeps me up at night reading this is the sheer weight of what Shen Lingxi has already lost before Chapter 8 even begins. Her family is ruined. Her uncle is gone. She's living under someone else's roof as a guest who isn't really welcome. Jiang Qingyan exists — this green tea queen who made her kneel in the snow and then collapsed on the stairs herself, probably. The Second Princess of Nanzhou was provoked. And Fu Jinglan is the only thing standing between her and complete destruction. The stakes are terrifyingly clear: if she makes one wrong move, if she's too much trouble, if she crosses Fu Jinglan — she's done. There's no family to go back to, no safety net. That's why she performs. That's why she cracks jokes and calls him her "ideal type" and tries to be the most entertaining burden he's ever had. She's calculating every interaction like a survival strategy. But the external conflict is only half of it. The real tension is internal — Fu Jinglan's war between who he's supposed to be (cold, detached, a man who doesn't care about women crying) and who he's becoming. Every time he says he's annoyed but then does something incredibly tender, the stakes rise. He's not just keeping her around anymore. He's invested. And that makes him vulnerable in a way that the story hasn't fully explored yet. The scene where she collapses into his bare chest and he threatens to "f*ck her" while she's crying — that's not just sexual tension, that's two people who are both dangerously close to losing control. And the story is building toward something where neither of them can pretend they're fine anymore. The question isn't whether they'll fall — it's what happens when they do.
There's something deeply symbolic about this entire setup that I can't stop thinking about. The mass grave. That's where they've been dumped—literally next to a pit of the dead. The Liu family has declared these three social dead already. Elder Tian calls Xiaoman a 'jinx that killed her father' and treats them like they're already corpses. Being cast out to a mass grave is the ultimate symbol of being rendered invisible, worthless, disposable. But here's the thing: the things that grow next to a mass grave are weeds. Plantain. Dandelion. Things that everyone steps on, pulls out, considers trash. And yet—Xiaoman's system scans them and sees VALUE. 0.02 points per plantain. 0.01 per dandelion. These discarded, unwanted plants are literally what will save their lives. This is the thesis statement of the novel, I'm convinced. The system doesn't give her rare magical herbs or ancient treasures. It gives her the ability to see value in what the world has thrown away. And that's exactly what she is—a discarded girl next to a mass grave who turns out to be an agricultural scientist, someone whose entire career was built on finding value in plants that others ignored. The father's absence is another layer. Liu Shitou is dead—most likely. But Xiaoman uses his memory as a shield, a narrative device to protect her family from accusations of witchcraft. The dead father becomes a living protector through story. There's something powerful about a woman using the memory of an absent man to create space for herself to be strong. And the porridge itself—white, pure, steaming in a broken hut next to a mass grave. It's a symbol of civilization, of care, of something beautiful emerging from the most hopeless place imaginable.
I need to talk about how distinct each character sounds because honestly it's impressive. Yanchu's energy is so specific — she's the one pushing gates open excitedly, the one who says 'Logically, after drinking that water from the Spirit Spring, Han Qingmo should be able to get around by now!' That word 'logically' is so Yanchu. She's the type who tries to be rational about magic cultivation stuff and it's adorable. Then you have Yannuo who's just over here washing her hands at the water vat like a normal person while dropping the most important information — 'their bike was gone, they must have gone to town.' Calm, practical, the anchor of the group. And Han Qingmo — we don't even see him in this chapter until the last two lines, but his voice hits like a truck. 'Commander, I'm getting married. Please help me file a marriage report!' The formal politeness of 'please help me file' after dropping the most chaotic sentence in the history of military communication. The author gives each character a distinct rhythm and I'm here for it.
The perfect story! If you are into omegaverse you should check this story out. Characters, their development, humorous situations, love, crying, caring, losses all in this story will wait for you!I don't really like when story contains many second lead and extra characters but here I can't wait to know about all of them and I wish this story were at least 200 chapters itself. Every couple is unique, their stories are interesting and sad at the same time. The author makes excuses every time about grammar and misspellings but it doesn't matter! English is my 3rd language and I can pretty well understand everything. So despite this I definitely recommend you to read this story! My best wishes to the author, keep going, you're doing so well no matter this is your first time writing a story!
I started reading this novel a while ago, and it has become one of the best stories I've ever read! For those just starting it, I envy you, man—enjoy this incredible journey ✌️

Idk, the author is good at writing, I just don't personally like it, he basically cucks himself, he has lemons with people through other people.
Lol why does this novel have the Harem tag and No-Harem tag at the same time.
I like these kinds of slow day to day life stories this one looks promising
