Let's talk about what these people are actually risking here because it's way more than just awkward dinner conversations. Sang Wu is a young widow who preserved her chastity and was commended for virtuous fidelity—meaning her entire social value is tied to her reputation. If this arrangement fails, if Pei Xu mistreats her, if the family turns on her, she has literally nothing. No husband to protect her (the first one is dead), no parents mentioned as present, no real agency. She's seventeen and her survival depends on performing the role of devoted daughter-in-law and obedient wife. Pei Xu's stakes are different but real—he's the adopted son of the third branch, which means his position depends on maintaining family harmony and fulfilling his duties. The succession marriage is supposed to be about 'the greater good,' but what if it doesn't work? What if he can't or won't consummate it? What if Sang Wu becomes a problem instead of a solution? The Old Madam is angry but powerless. Third Master seems to be playing both sides. And Pei Xu himself—he's not exactly willing in this arrangement, as the text explicitly notes, but he's also not cruel. He's just... uncertain. The conflict here isn't dramatic battles or betrayals, it's the slow-burn tension of two people who don't know each other being forced into the most intimate relationship possible, with their entire futures hanging on whether they can figure it out. The storm outside mirrors this perfectly—everything is battering against them but the house still stands. For now.
I need to just get this off my chest — Zheng Xiujie is possibly the most disgusting character I've encountered in a transmigration novel and I've read a LOT of them. The man is paralyzed, yes, but his psychological abuse is what makes him truly vile. He's sitting there telling his guests that his heart and body belong to Song Yao, that he'll never touch Ruan Zheng, and then his mother has already kidnapped Ruan Zheng to "borrow seed" from a mentally disabled man so Zheng Xiujie can have an heir through someone else. And he's OK with this? He's like, "as long as she doesn't fight with A-Yao, I'll make sure she's fed and clothed." Fed and clothed. Like she's a pet. Like she's not a human being who was forced into this marriage. And the absolute audacity when Ruan Zheng shows up — instead of being horrified that his mother tried to assault his wife, he criticizes her appearance and asks her to make him hot water. BRO. The man is delusional to the core. But honestly, what I love most is Ruan Zheng's response. She doesn't just yell — she systematically dismantles his entire self-image. "You're the one taking advantage of me. You're the one who's unworthy of me!" That line hit so hard because it completely flips the power dynamic. For the first time, Zheng Xiujie is the one who's powerless and exposed. Also — Song Zheng. The guy who catches her falling from a tree. Beautiful, calm, offers her his name and tells her to find him at the military compound. I'm already shipping them and we've only known each other for five minutes.
i can't even put a serious face while reading ahahaha more chapters po
Normal I really enjoy the Wuxia concept so this novel is totally my genre, I hope or female lead can find true empowerment and not be in the graces of the demon. I also hope she would become a very powerful character and she realizes her live is worth living and she would move past the grief because I'm not really a fan of grief. Overall it's a promising story and I hope this author gives us a nice journey to finding true embodiment of power so she can survive this world on her own, this will keep our interest. Great job ??
I will read more chapters first, but from the prologue it is quite interesting according to the genre that I like. I look forward to the next chapter ?
the story itself is promising i like the way it opened the beginning of the story and i like the system, but the characters really do fall flat especially the MC the author is maybe trying to hard to be funny, like the mc i know he is mentally unstable cause of everything that happened but it’s not really fleshed well the author just makes him like annoyingly unserious because he’s insane like a really bad joker and spider-man combined, so it doesn’t flesh his character out well
Author please mass release ? see how your readers were demanding it....

Ok here’s my review: Prologue is amazing! So so cool! And then the vibe between the characters is the sweetest brotherhood vibe. I love that. I can see this being a very exciting book! I can sit and listen to this one which is great.
