The worldbuilding in this novel is so richly detailed that I feel like I could walk through the Agricultural Machinery Factory residential compound. The author doesn't just describe the setting—they embed it in every interaction, every conflict, every calculation. Let me start with the economic details, because they're fascinating. In 1978 China, a fifth-grade technician like Jiang Nan's father-in-law earns 68.8 yuan a month. A factory apprentice makes 18 yuan. The Cheng family's combined wages barely top eighty yuan. Yet they're supporting aging parents, three children, and secretly subsidizing a sister who has several times their savings. These numbers aren't just background—they're the architecture of the conflict. The text is full of period-specific details that ground the story in its era. There's the mention of being "sent down to the countryside," which refers to the Cultural Revolution's urban-to-rural relocation program. There's the "Great Unity" notes—referring to the Renminbi banknotes that featured workers, peasants, and soldiers. There's the factory system where job quotas could be transferred, where the state assigned graduates to workplaces, where dormitories and housing benefits were provided. But what really brings this world to life are the domestic scenes. The mother-in-law lingering after dropping off chicken soup noodles, working up the nerve to suggest Jiang Nan return to work. The clatter of dishes fading into children's laughter from the main room. The half-eaten bowl of noodles that makes Jiang Nan lose her appetite. These small moments create an atmosphere of suffocating domesticity. The contrast between the Cheng family's cramped, duty-bound existence and Cheng Yixin's glamorous widowhood is also striking. She's described as the "style pioneer" of the compound, owning a red down jacket from Shanghai that stuns all the little girls. Her daughter Lu Xiaoxiao inherits her vanity. While Jiang Nan is confined to her room, eating chicken soup day after day, Cheng Yixin is living a life of romantic entanglements and eventual upward mobility. The author also uses the physical space to reflect power dynamics. Jiang Nan is confined to her room during confinement, observed but not heard. Cheng Yixin moves freely through the household, performing concern from doorway to doorway. The bedroom becomes a site of both imprisonment and rebellion—where Jiang Nan hides her notebook and plans her escape.
I love the story and the lore it’s building up the progress so far is nice with the mc becoming a god but the grammar is shit, it’s good for the couple chapter but then it start off with the mixing up of the church names making me confused and then I just read a chapter where their was no space every dialogue was jumbled into a paragraph . I’m trying to continue but plz fix these ecen if you have to use Ai to correct ur writing. This makes me feel like your tranlating a novel but messing up with simple mistakes
I finished the MTLing 896 chapters I found. I love it! They were just about to sign the marriage certificate!!!!!!! Why did it stop there? I want to know more! Sadly, I can't find any more chapters after chapter 896. it hasn't been updated since 2018... The author shows a high level of english literary mastery. This read like a published novel that passed through editors as if it was to be published. This does not read like the typical lazy webnovel and should not be mentioned in te company thereoff. The style may not be to everyone's taste and the references and allusions may pull the readers out of immersion but the writting amd story telling is still excellent.
This is actually great novelYou should read itIts gem in trash novel A great novel should grow( we shall make this novel grow more)Not some harem bulshit
the novel seems to be a fun and lighthearted adventure with plenty of humor, unique characters, and a very unconventional hero. It's perfect for readers to enjoy a comedic twist on the hero's journey.
