There's a layer to this chapter that I can't stop thinking about. The Treasure Ledger isn't just a plot device—it's a symbol of everything the original host was: greedy, hoarding, using love as a transaction. Emperor Jian gave him treasures, and he kept them all, never sharing, never giving back. The Yun Duan Jin and Cang Hai Zhu became symbols of power and favoritism that other consorts coveted. But now Xie Chengze is looking at this ledger and planning to give it all away. "He hoped the Ministry of Revenue would appreciate this generous gift." Is he being generous? Or is he strategically disposing of evidence? Or is he just... done? The author hasn't clarified his motives yet, and that ambiguity is the point. The treasures were never about wealth—they were about control. The lychees and grapes are also symbolic. The original host's rebellion was performative—he overturned the lychee tower to assert dominance even over something as simple as fruit. Xie Chengze eating the top lychee obediently is a quiet rejection of that performative cruelty. He's not rebelling because he doesn't need to prove anything. He's already won by not playing. And Chen Yushi bringing homemade food instead of silver—what does that say about genuine care versus transactional relationships in a palace where everything is bought and sold?
Okay so let me just... breathe. Ali. The girl who betrayed Xiao Changning, who spent six years spying on her, and then DIES saving her? That is the most messed up, beautiful, devastating plot turn I have ever read. It's like the author looked at me and said 'you think you understand this story? no you don't.' The setup was already airtight — Xiao Changning deliberately let Ali think she was conspiring with the Crown Princess, sent that letter to persuade her mother to give up, and then confronted Ali with the truth. Everything was a trap. And then the arrow comes flying and Ali throws herself in front of it. Of course she does. Because despite everything, despite being forced into this by her family's lives being held hostage, she still couldn't bring herself to let Xiao Changning die. "It is I who have wronged you. If not for me, Princess, you would have long been free as the sky and sea." — this line absolutely wrecked me. She spent the whole scene apologizing to the person she betrayed, and then died trying to make it right. And Xiao Changning? She forgives her. She says she never blamed her. She asks the Emperor to send Ali home and free her family. The woman who was just manipulated and betrayed is thinking about the dead girl's family. And then — plot twist within a twist — Murong Yao has been giving Xiao Changning contraceptive soup every time they're intimate. WHY. Just WHY. He went through all that trouble to take her, to bring her back to the capital, and he's actively preventing pregnancy? The Emperor is about to make her Guifei tomorrow and the court is already exploding with memorials, and he's playing this long game of keep-her-close-but-never-let-her-have-a-child? What is this man thinking?? The assassination attempt itself was handled perfectly too — no drawn-out battle, just one arrow, one sacrifice, immediate aftermath. The author knows when to strike fast and when to let the emotional fallout do the work.
so hear me out, I mean iIget it, the story the author want to tell seems interesting, and you would want to know more as you read more, but you know the world backround, writing quality and characters just seems somewhat weird I guess ,you will know once you read, it's good, you should definitely give it a try, but don't expect something too mindblowing. oh and btw you'll like bete
Could have ‘sworn I left a review, o well my bad. I will write one now. I give this work 5 stars, I believe it deserves it. Hard to find good reads now-a-days but this was definitely a good read thanks for the chapters
Hey guys, it's the author here. I'm shamelessly leaving a 5-star review on my novel. This has been "under developement (iykyk)?" for some time and is finally back! Hope this turns out to be a good read for ya all.
A hauntingly compelling tale of resilience and transformation, this story masterfully weaves themes of trauma, identity, and survival into an unforgettable narrative. The protagonist's evolution from an innocent soul to a formidable force is both heartbreaking and empowering, capturing the raw struggle of enduring cruelty and reclaiming control. The writing is immersive, pulling readers into a world where strength is both a necessity and a burden. With its deep emotional layers and thought-provoking questions about identity and fate, this novel is a gripping read that lingers long after the final page.
Very gud novel, more than I expected i long for new chapters every day, and I noticed a few changes also.... the author trying to add a bit of romance .

The writing is soo good, the story is just well paced, And its longer than Most novels ch by ch, hopefully it takes time to flesh out the world and the characters
I would like to thank everyone who took the time to read my novel, as well as to those who are being patient with shifting writing style. still, I would like to thank those who tried reading my novel as well, regardless of the low views, low chapter count and whatnot.
