I am the translator of the novel. I was initially hesitant to write this because I didn't want readers to approach the novel with preconceived biases. However, some reviews have not been to my liking, and from my perspective, I will try to highlight both the strengths and weaknesses of the novel.
Firstly, the main character (MC) transmigrates into a "Gao Fushuai" (a wealthy, handsome, and capable individual) in a novel. For those who haven't read it, this character was originally meant to be cannon fodder or a stepping stone for the protagonist's rise. However, with the help of a system, he can choose to stay on his original path or alter his destiny.
The MC is portrayed as cruel, cunning, manipulative, and interested in forming a harem, but he does not seek to destroy the world or cause harm to others. His unique viewpoint sets him apart from typical villains, who often have grandiose ambitions of world domination. He simply wants to enjoy life, and that's it.
I want to clarify that this is not a stereotypical urban harem novel. The story is a continuous confrontation between the original protagonist and our new protagonist. Unlike the common trope of a hero saving a heroine and winning her heart, this novel takes a different approach. The heroines have multiple interactions, and the relationships develop gradually, allowing readers to form bonds with each character. Notably, no heroine has reached 100% favorability with the protagonist, which adds depth to their relationships.
A very important point to consider: In the real world, dating a girl and impressing her with conversation skills, consideration, and a rich background would likely win her over. The second heroine, for instance, comes from a poor background. How many girls in the real world wouldn't be impressed by a rich, handsome guy spending time with them? The novel dedicates six chapters to exploring her background and the protagonist's efforts to impress her. She shows a slight favorable impression, but it's far from like or love. Yet, there are reviews criticizing this. For heaven's sake, imagine Tony Stark meeting a poor girl on the street and spending the entire evening with her. Would she not have a crush on him? Please use some common sense.
The author has stated that achieving 100% favorability is impossible for any genuine human being, as it implies unconditional listening and understanding, which is unrealistic. This adds a layer of realism to the relationships in the novel.
The novel features significant character development for the heroines, making their interactions engaging. However, the protagonist himself undergoes less character development. Even the "original protagonist," who acts as the antagonist, experiences character growth.
Of course, the novel has its flaws, and I acknowledge them. One major issue is how smoothly the main character adapts to the new setting, with no transition period. This is the biggest flaw in his characterization. Another significant drawback is how easily everyone accepts his sudden brilliance in various fields. A minor issue is the excessive praise from supporting characters, though I understand this might be a cultural difference. In places like India or the broader subcontinent, such reactions are not uncommon, although they can be exaggerated in the novel.
On a scale of 5, I would rate the novel slightly above 4 points. It is not a perfect novel, but it is a good one with some flaws. It belongs to a genre where the focus is on the dynamic between the antagonist and the protagonist, rather than on a large ensemble cast that readers might forget.
So, please, don't just review a novel without thoughtful analysis. Reviews are meant to serve as guides for other readers.
Damn, I still have 49 chapters into volume 2 to read, but I'll say it now...
The anime volume 1 and volume 2 pick up right where they left off. If you don't feel like reading the first 50 chapters, you can jump straight to volume 2.
However, don't think of volume 2 as all fun and games. While I still find many scenes funny, the darker elements of the series really pick up. If you are not comfortable with scenes where humans are treated like livestock or tortured for sport, this may not be for you.
Other than that, it's pretty much business as usual. Volume 2 is obviously an SS-difficulty world, so it's more difficult to conquer. The challenges have increased significantly. Ristarte is faced with dealing with her previous human life through the eyes of a goddess. She doesn't seem to feel anything in particular yet, but she has started to show some signs of sympathy. I assume this arc will focus more on the serious side of the story and the inner turmoil told from Ristarte's perspective. If you were to remove the comedy aspect, it does make for a more compelling story.
Aww, such a heartwarming moment indeed! The MC's parents have a beautiful bond with their care for one another. The tsundere worm adds an adorable touch to the story. The Crown Prince, oh my, his love for the MC is quite complex - he's willing to sacrifice for her, yet he can be manipulative and cruel to others, only to benefit himself. This duality creates an intriguing dynamic.
The online community is full of affection, shipping the MC and ML as if their hearts were entwined. It feels like the entire world is united in their love for their OTP. This tale is like a graceful sheep and a charming lion, a delightful combination!
And there are so many secrets uncovered during the royal banquets, leaving us curious about the uncle's role. I'm eager to learn more about him! ?❤️
They claimed it was geared towards girls, but personally, I find it quite engaging, hehe. If you're as charming as me, feel free to give it a read; I won't push. The story progresses steadily, with well-developed characters, unlike those who suddenly become overly powerful. Sometimes, the main character comes across as a bit naive, which I actually enjoy, as it adds a touch of humor to their struggles. [Please don't judge my sense of humor.] And oh, regarding the rating, I wish I could rate it 3.009 stars, but alas...
This novel really tugged at my heartstrings; I cried quite a bit while reading the Google Translate version. I'm thrilled to see it being translated officially. Thanks to the translators; I'll definitely continue following along. **UPDATE**: After reading it again, I'll provide a more polished review.
The summary accurately captures the essence. The main character (MC) aims to finish the novel to return to reality, grappling with both the challenges posed by his novelized existence (incompatibility with his new body) and the issues in his real life.
If you're looking for an emotional rollercoaster, this story delivers. The storyline is straightforward, and the protagonist is relatable without being a typical overbearing male lead (non-AHML).
I highly recommend giving this a read; I promise you won't regret it, just remember to have tissues handy. ?
This is my honest review.
If you can handle author/translator's problems with past, present and future tense then overall omitting the former the book is a solid 7/10, mc evolves every 10 levels starting at lvl 10, power system is a bit unique but still western magic/knight style with monster race traits. No R18 scenes so far even though mc's a goblin. The world building is deep for the main world but not so much for the sub worlds. Theres some yandere girls, but their relationship hasn't been talked about in these first 400 chapters. Power level goes from F-S-SSS-Hero-God-(currently unstated levels of godhood). Mc is always slightly OP for his level yet is always fighting mobs above his level. Overall the story is fast pace and it feels like time is always running out and you're always waiting for the other shoe to drop. You can tell author has vaguely planned out the first 400-600 chapters based on the first 300-400 chapters and it isn't an unplanned self insert.
Deffo Recommended.
I just finished reading it. All I can say is I've wasted too much time for this low level author. I will never read any of his novel. Pathetic.
i take it back reading the raw (MTL) are pain in the *ss. its not about the broken English. but the naming for character, weapon, etc. are became hard-imposibble to understand if you jumping from proper translation to MTL
If y'all compare this to the average isekai reincarnation light novels on the scale of say, 1-10, what are we talking about?
If racism and xenophobia have a child, it would be this novel xD
Its an interesting story but why make the fl 15 and the ml 20. I get that its supposed to be "historically accurate" but atleast make the age gap socially acceptable. i really don't care that she reincarnated, it still feels wrong yknow?
