Okay so let's talk about Cheng Lin's phone call with Shen Yu because this one scene is EVERYTHING. She's literally lying there with the dog, scratching his chin, and Shen Yu calls up with his fake senior concern—"how have you been recently"—and she responds with this totally smooth, practiced casualness. No hesitation, no guilt. She just feeds him the "I've been traveling in S City" line like it's nothing. And then the moment he says "I have some experience I can share with you for reference" about her thesis and work... she tugs her mouth into a smile that held no warmth. That detail right there. That's not a smile, that's a mask. She hangs up immediately. Doesn't even let him finish. It's so cold and calculated but also so human—you can feel the exhaustion behind it. She's been doing this act for so long that even the reader can sense how tired she is of performing warmth. And then Jiang Yi! This guy is sending her messages every few hours like "Darling, H City had a heavy downpour today—it was terrifying!" and she's playing along, calling him "baby," saying she'll wait for him. But here's the thing that got me—she literally asks the system right after hanging up: "did something happen to Jiang Yi in B City? Why would he accept his father's help to protect me but not return himself?" She's suspicious. She's been burned before. And yet she still plays the sweet girlfriend role. The duality is insane. She's building this whole survival fortress while maintaining this fragile emotional performance. Who is she even protecting at this point? Herself or him? I keep wondering if Jiang Yi knows more than he lets on, or if he's just another piece on her board.

This book is really interesting and I love it so much. It has all the drama you need and keeps you in suspense. You'll, give this book a try and I promise you, you won't reget it. You will enjoy this book, its worth the read. On more thing, before you start reading, grab your popcorn and be ready to laugh your heart out. This is what I think so far:1.Anyways the novel is some peak lvl compared to the usual novels u find on wn these days .2.There's no harem in it so a plus point.3.The MC is sensible enough and not like your average beta and brain-dead MCs.4. The characters are good so far, all are likeable.
story line seems good but the translation in the first few chapters is not great at all, luckily it gets better, I kept reading to see and it does get a lot better and easier to understand after 3-4 chapters. which is good cas I am looking for a new beast novel where they all update so slowly.

The novel was quite good with great potential. But the author really just had to make someone eat shit. I was eating some snacks while casually reading and just... only read it if you like seeing people eat shit.
