Okay, I need to talk about Cui Tang and Gu Anyun's scene because I am absolutely wrecked. The moment Cui Tang just *knows*—no probing, no drama, she sees it in her daughter's face and says 'Is it about the divorce?'—that's the kind of mother-daughter bond I live for. And then the confession? Gu Anyun admitting she and Jin Chenyue never developed feelings, that she signed the agreement willingly three years ago, that she's not suffering but just... longs for love? My heart actually hurt. She's so composed about her own unhappiness it's devastating. But what killed me was Cui Tang breaking down. 'Sweetheart, we elders made a mistake.' She never asked her daughter if she wanted this marriage. She was too afraid of hearing 'no,' too selfish in her own way, and now their perfect sibling-turned-spouses arrangement has produced nothing but a polite, loveless three years. The line 'My girl has grown up and has her own thoughts. In a way, that's a good thing' followed immediately by tears—Cui Tang is trying so hard to be supportive while drowning in guilt. And Jin Fang? He can't even look at his daughter. 'Was A-Yue not good enough?' He wants to blame someone, anyone, because facing the truth—that his family orchestrated this and it simply didn't work—is too much. Meanwhile Gu Anyun defends Jin Chenyue: 'Daddy, you can't keep shifting the blame onto him.' She's protecting the man she doesn't even love. That's not weakness, that's the most painful kind of grace.
I keep coming back to the number. Nine hundred and ninety-nine steps. Not a thousand. Not nine hundred. Nine hundred and ninety-nine. There's something almost folkloric about that number — it's the number just short of completion, just short of perfection. She climbed every single one of them on her knees, blood on her forehead, and it wasn't enough to reach a thousand. Or maybe it was exactly enough. Maybe the fact that it wasn't a round number is the point — her devotion didn't need to be perfect, it just needed to be real. The star motif appears early and echoes to the end. Yangyang says her father is the brightest star. Three years ago, Jiang Xingzhou carved into her headstone: do not enter the cycle of rebirth, wait for me at the Bridge of Forgetfulness. He was already thinking about crossing between worlds for her. And she was simultaneously crossing the boundary between life and death on that mountain, paying with her lifespan. The temple itself is a symbol — not just of faith, but of the space between worlds. Master Hebai says she comes from beyond the heavens. The bridge between life and death. The place where wishes are granted at the cost of something real. It's a liminal space, and that's exactly where these two characters keep finding each other — on the edge of death, on the edge of understanding, on the edge of something they can't yet name. And the go game. Master Hebai and Jiang Xingzhou playing while the truth is being revealed. The board is a metaphor for their entire situation — black and white stones, moves that seem small but change everything, a game where every piece has already been placed and the outcome is determined by choices made long ago. The white stone that slips from Jiang Xingzhou's fingers and lands in a dead-end position — that's him, right there. All his moves, all his wars, all his devotion, and he's stuck in a position he can't escape. Ten years. Nine hundred and ninety-nine steps. One white stone. The cost of love is always something you can't get back.
Nice concept I hope to see a weird class since MC was undead before like? please keep updated
Please do like, comment and rate the story. It serves as a booster to me. Thank You.
This is clearly going to be interesting. MC is not a good person, well, not too bad. The fact that he travels through worlds and picks up heroines and heroes isn't new, but the way it's done is pretty exciting.
The story is truly delightful, captivating readers with its enchanting narrative. It is consistently updated, keeping the content fresh and engaging. Overall, it’s a remarkable piece of work well done to the author for their impressive effort!

Interesting world building, and amazing character design.
This novel has certainly piqued my interest! The main character is intriguing, and the author does a great job of setting up the story and the world around them. The pacing feels well-balanced, giving us just enough to keep us hooked without overwhelming us with details. I’m excited to see where the story goes next and how the plot develops.
Interesting read, got me invested in the mc’s emotional development and the relationships he has with his family. The portrayal of loneliness and the feelings of isolation were very well described. Good story overall.
So far so good. This is a really good system story. The system character is really cool and I love the writing style. I recommend it.
