The stakes in this story are layered like an onion and I am HERE for it. On the surface: Crown Prince vs. bandits. Standard martial arts drama stuff. But then you peel it back and EVERYONE is operating on incomplete information. Xiao Yu thinks he's hunting bandits who kidnapped his sister. He has no idea the bandit chief IS his sister. The masked girl knows the Crown Prince is coming but can't reveal herself—she tells Qing Ren to keep a low profile, orders no one to enter or leave the city, and sends a spy to watch him. She's protecting him while pretending to be his enemy. Meanwhile, the Prefect is corrupt and obsequious, pretending Suzhou is peaceful while everyone smiles like mannequins. The bandits have actually made the region safer under the masked chief's leadership—which makes the whole "suppress the bandits" mission morally questionable. Is the court sending the Crown Prince to protect the people or to eliminate evidence of corruption? And Xiao Yu's internal conflict? He's brilliant, calculating, composed—but the moment someone mentions Xiao Li, he loses all reason. Shen Yi literally has to snap him out of it. His guilt over his sister's kidnapping is eating him alive, and he's walking into a situation where his sister might be the very person he's sent to fight. The suspense is maintained perfectly because we (the readers) know more than any single character. We see the masked girl's flashback with Cai Ling. We see Xiao Yu's memory of little Li'er. We hold both halves of the pendant in our minds while the characters fumble toward each other in the dark. How is this not a masterpiece?!
Amazing but I hope the family is not all dead specially the 4 kids and mom and that. More chapter needed
It's actually pretty much unpredictable, this novel went in a way which is unique and out of generic content , every chapter ends with a twist , l really like the way author is taking this novel
Finally, the playwrights worked hard, according to the narrator behind the curtain, to come up with this story, and finding a special Valentine's Day episode wasn’t easy-it was such a vast theme to explore. Anyway, False Smile, you are an author, thank you for writing this work! I think another task will be assigned to me soon. Please read Look Left ← Like Now!
Another book from my favorite author! ?I love how the story begins and progress so far. The narative is strong, the characters are alive, and the plot is very exciting. I was hooked at the very first chapter! ?For author's loyal readers, there is no need to hesitate. Let's just jump into this new ride! ?For new readers, welcome to the party and give this story a try. You won't regret it! ?
Wow is the setting amazing. I haven’t read too much, yet, but it’s starting off like one amazing story. ?
Wow, 'Kente' is such an amazing story! I'm totally hooked on the characters and the plot twists. I can't wait to see what happens next! Please release more chapters soon—I'm eager to continue this journey!
The reason behind this rating is pretty simple. The grammar is okay generally except for a few slip-ups. The novel itself has an interesting story line and world background. The problem is that firstly, it feels like I am reading a manga. That's how bad and immature most of the conversation seems. Like every girl will just throw themselves at the MC or show him kindness which is completely different from their character. As if the MC is the only one in the whole wide world who can catch a certain itch for them (?). The other thing is how are the siblings not willing to kill the guys who tried killing them? just beat them up? So if a pedo/rapist does something to your sibling you let them go with a little beating or something ? that's it? Are you even worthy of calling yourself their family?
Start is good but there is not many chapters yet so i dont have much to say. I would recommend everyone to atleast give it a try
It's good, really is. Better than I expected.Like the characters and their interactions. like the swordsman~ I think he is awesome. Like the story, It's really engaging. Also, Good first chapter. keep up the good work, author.
idk became all edgy. Level progression was pretty fast, which is fine but wasn't really fleshed out. I wish the story built more on the forged beasts cuz that's a great concept. I like him as a tinkerer using his skills to upgrade beasts. felt that it was just kind of handed to him tho. could just be a pace thing. I don't know I'm bad at reviews. this is probably my 3rd in my lifetime or something like that.
Extremely enjoyable the only floor is the update which are kind of random amazing world building and character development overall one of my favourite books and would recommend
