I've been thinking about this line: 'The fire five years ago burned down more than just a cabin. There were also a lot of military documents inside.' A fire. That's the central symbol of this whole story, isn't it? Fire destroys, but it also clears the ground for something new. Five years ago, Zhao Yunsheng's life was burned down—her marriage, her reputation, maybe even her identity. And now Pei Hechuan is circling back, trying to figure out what actually burned and who started it. But here's what I find fascinating: the fire isn't just a plot device. It represents the gap between these two characters. He remembers one thing; she remembers another. He thinks she's the woman he loved; she insists she doesn't know him. The fire created a blank space between them, and everything they're doing now is just trying to fill it in. There's also the braised pork—that's a symbol too, right? Something sweet, something from the past, something Pei Hechuan thinks defines her. But she tells him she doesn't like sweet things anymore. She's changed. The fire changed her. And he's still trying to feed her the version of herself that existed before everything burned. Even Yuanbao is symbolic. He's the child born from the ashes, the living proof that something grew from that destruction. And Pei Hechuan wants to claim him as his own—want to rewrite the history of that fire by inserting himself as the father. The whole story feels like it's asking: what survives destruction? What parts of us are truly ours versus what we inherited from the people who tried to define us?

The story is an interesting take on the mythological Monkey King. The writing style is a bit more literary than the usual webnovel, which may or may not be to your liking. But personally, I find it refreshing.I love how the author takes time to introduce the MC to his new body. Often times, this aspect is glossed over, which usually breaks the immersion for me. But how the MC reacts to his new body and environment is quite captivating.I enjoyed it, author. Keep it up!

this is a masterpiece, ngl! The descriptions are not only immersive and vivid for being well structured, but also for being poetic. I also enjoy the interaction between the characters early on, which made me laugh at a point. well, nothing has pros without cons. in the prologue, a lot of things were introduced by the author which makes things a little bit vague. but, anyways, I really enjoyed it. it's worth a lifetime commitment, fr.
