The Jiang siblings are washing dishes as punishment while everyone else eats a home-cooked meal in a vacation house. That's the opening image of this whole chapter and it sets the stakes immediately: some people are suffering while others are indulging, and the audience is watching both. But the real conflict isn't between the punished and the privileged—it's happening right at the dining table. Liang Shiyu wants to expose Sang Ji's supposed pretense about being wealthy. Shen Xi and Shen Ci want exclusive time with their sister. Su Tang wants... honestly I'm not sure what Su Tang wants, and that's what makes her the most dangerous person in the room. She's the only one who isn't performing. The live stream comments are basically a sixth character at this point, constantly judging, speculating, and driving the narrative forward. When Liang Shiyu asks about Lanjing Hotel and Shen Xi abruptly excuses himself to "nap," the tension is so thick you could cut it. Something is about to explode and everyone at that table knows it except maybe Su Tang, who just sat there smiling like she already knew the ending.
This is the part I went back to five times. The whole thing with Song Yuejiao grabbing Pei Chi's arm and him just...letting her. His ears flushed red and he didn't refuse. That's it. That's the whole romance. No grand confession, no dramatic moment, just a guy who's apparently never had a woman pull him into a restaurant private room before and is too polite to say no. And then later at the flower banquet, when Concubine Qi is trying to humiliate her and the Emperor actually steps in to protect her—'Chaoyang has only just returned, and he truly doesn't possess any talents'—I nearly fell out of my chair. The Emperor is basically shielding her from the concubine's schemes and Song Yuejiao is kneeling on the floor with numb legs thinking 'I thought I'd be kneeling the entire day.' The contrast between her internal panic and the external political maneuvering is giving me whiplash in the best way. And Lin Miyu showing up to apologize and then immediately pivoting to 'why don't you get along with Jinzhi' is the emotional equivalent of someone fixing a leak and then immediately opening a new one. Song Yuejiao's face when she realizes Lin Miyu has been hearing Jinzhi's side of things—'Song Yuejiao almost choked'—I felt that in my soul. The friendship dynamics here are so messy and real. Nobody is being straightforward. Everyone is doing their own thing and accidentally colliding. That's honestly how real relationships work, and it's why this novel hits different from the usual 'everyone understands each other perfectly' fare.
Let me just appreciate how the author structures these chapters because it's genuinely masterful. Chapter 9 starts with her discovering the space—the hourglass, the white void—and we're like, okay, mysterious transmigrator powers, got it. Then Chapter 10 immediately pivots to the dream sequence, which serves as both emotional relief AND a brutal reality check. She wakes up, cooks breakfast (comedy gold with the firewood incident), gets a cabinet from Yan Xiao, and THEN—Chapter 11 drops her into the fields where her physical weakness becomes the central conflict. The pacing choice to have her walk only a hundred meters before breaking down is brilliant. It's not a dramatic battle or a life-or-death confrontation—it's just... walking. And she can't do it. The author is making us feel her fragility in the most mundane way possible, which is somehow more devastating than any action scene could be. And the transition from the weeding scene back to the dorm? Seamless. She's eating blueberries, feeling almost happy, and then the chapter ends with her noticing Yan Xiao's physique. No cliffhanger, no big reveal—just a quiet moment of attraction that leaves you wanting more. The author trusts the reader to sit with that feeling. What I love most is how the author balances the supernatural (the space, the mole, the hourglass) with the extremely grounded daily life (cooking sweet potato porridge, weeding, making cabinets). One minute she's wondering if her consciousness traveled to another dimension, the next she's worried about burning down the kitchen. That tonal whiplash actually works because it mirrors how transmigrators probably feel—disoriented, bouncing between wonder and mundane survival.
Its a good read. The story is although typical to most harem system novels, the execution is good.
it's nice, some mistakes but I mean who doesn't. Try proofreading them. a little bit too fast paced. but overall, good story.
No idea it's in early phase, still pretty exciting
very easy to read this is peak performance
As expected from the Duke, the beginning of this novel is full of secrets and little allusions. It's fun to read and I'm excited to see what happens next. Please keep it up
Honestly, I'm not a fan of mixing technology terms with magic, but I got hooked after reading this, and I didn't have a hard time understanding it. Nice one, author! keep the story good.
