I need to talk about this first interaction between Jiang Zhaoxue and Xiao Chenghuai because WOW. He wakes up, barely conscious, and his first words are "Throw her out." I literally laughed out loud. This man is sick to death and still has the audacity to be rude. But here's the thing — Jiang Zhaoxue doesn't flinch. She just leans in and says "Your life was saved by me. Now you want to throw me out? Too late." And then she lays out THREE demands like she's ordering food at a restaurant: "First, I will not live in a side courtyard, nor will I live in the bridal chamber. This place of yours is clean, so I will stay in the main courtyard." "Second, I need to choose the people in your manor." "Third... I want to borrow the power of your Jing Prince's residence to settle an old account with the Jiang family." And he just... agrees? He says "Deal" and shakes her hand. No negotiation, no pushback. The man is clearly intrigued and maybe a little desperate, but the way he handles it is so in character — cold, direct, pragmatic. The moment that sold me was when he asks "When you entered the manor, what did you see?" and she replies "I saw that your fate is very good." Then when he presses further, she says "I saw that this marriage of mine was worth it." That's bold. That's dangerous. And he laughs. He actually finds her interesting. Their dynamic is already so electric. She's not afraid of him, he's not intimidated by her, and they both know exactly what they want. This is going to be so good.
I've been thinking about the symbolism in these chapters and it's deeper than I expected. The dreams. Xiao Cheng has been dreaming about Lin Aiyun night after night, and the acupuncture is actually shortening the duration of those dreams. So the treatment that's supposed to help him is also slowly removing the very thing he's searching for. There's something almost cruel about that - the cure is making him forget the cure's purpose. Is he being healed from something, or is he being erased from something? The needles themselves are symbolic too. Silver needles inserted into his body, controlling his sleep, his dreams, his very subconscious. There's a loss of agency there that feels important. And the orchid on Liu Hui's handkerchief - orchids symbolize refinement, purity, but also something rare and hard to find. Lin Aiyun tracing the embroidery with her mind, appreciating the craftsmanship even while covered in mud... she notices beauty in a moment of frustration. That's who she is. The water in the bath chamber is described as "greenish-black" - not clean, not pure, but therapeutic. The idea that healing comes through something murky and uncomfortable is a recurring theme. Lin Aiyun's journey to find Xiao Cheng will probably follow the same pattern - it won't be clean or easy, but it might be necessary. Also: rebirth. The text explicitly mentions Lin Aiyun's "rebirth" and her obsession with finding Xiao Cheng since then. What does it mean to carry memory from a past life into a new one? Is fate real, or is it just memory dressed up as destiny?
Okay so let me just say—Lin Xizhi is a STRATEGIST. I almost missed it at first because she plays the naive, fragile card so well, but the moment she realized Song Zhuowei responded to softness instead of confrontation? That was the pivot. She swallowed her actual response—probably something like 'leave me alone'—and instead deployed the most devastating weapon in her arsenal: vulnerability wrapped in flattery. 'Captain Song... how could there be dangerous people? With your Sea Guard protecting Shajing Commune...' She literally made him stand taller unconsciously. I love this woman already. And then the whole setup with Aunt Hui—Lin Xizhi heard the rumors about her medical skills, showed up uninvited, cooked a meal, and essentially trapped herself into staying. The fact that Aunt Hui tested the food for poison with a silver needle before eating? That's the kind of detail that tells you Widow Village operates on a completely different logic than the rest of the commune. Also, Song Zhuowei's threat—'Women who stay here too long end up with no one willing to marry them!'—was supposed to scare her off, but Lin Xizhi just smiled and said 'I'll remember that.' The look that 'pierced straight into Song Zhuowei's heart' while his heart pounded like thunder? Plot-wise, this is the author setting up a delicious tension where everyone thinks they're manipulating everyone else, but nobody actually has control.
I love a good arrangement relationship????
T/N: Am still a novice in translating novel, No group, No team, No partner, just me for fun…Like they say, I don't know who said it, be shameless once a while. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Generally speaking, a better grasp on English vocabulary and speech would make a good addition to the dialogue writing. The characters have good descriptions and the world building is on point with the plot progression but I feel that the narrative itself could use a little nudge based on the actions the characters are taking. Also, the advice you may have read about 'Show - not - Tell' has better interpretations. Show the actions from the perspective/ thoughts of the character in action rather than telling a description of the situation in which the actions are taking place, there is no fault in the descriptions but a central/dedicated theme allows for more instruments to join the music. Ciao!
Kesini liat vt lu bang, dan pas baca lumayan bagus juga. dunianya kompleks dan rumit, jadi gak sabar nunggu eksplorasi dunianya secara lebih lanjut lagi
The best thing I have ever laid my eyes on(Ps he wrote me very accurately)
I have read till chapter 11 and I Don't Have Any Complain With The Story, The Plot Progression Is Smooth, As Per Now Not much of a character development but, he haven't gonna out of his mansion and interact with other characters so, I wouldn't say much on it but, I really hope author will give us more information as story unfolds
Story is okay. Just not my cup of tea. The synopsis makes it seem like he becomes this OP villain and eventually pulls a badass goddess as a wife. In reality the Mc forces the goddess into a soul contract and is super weak. My guess is he won’t truly be a strong villain until the very end and I’m not really willing to wait that long, or spend the money on coins just for him to be slightly powerful. After his deal with the goddess he’s cursed into oblivion and no can no longer hold a weapon, learn spells/techniques, or control mana of any affinity. So we go from OP Mc to cursed Mc. It’s perhaps my least favorite way for authors to slow down power progression. You can slow growth without debuffing your character.
books nice , its casual and not uselessly big on details according to me , last i read and now that I read it again , the author has reworked the free chapters and it's better now this way , Appreciate your work author , keep up the good work.
It is very interesting can you please quickly release the remaining chapter
