I need to talk about this one moment. Yu Zhi is half-asleep, mumbling about how CEOs should carry their lovers to bed, and Pei Yuezhou just... nuzzles her cheek. The text says 'warmth filled his arms' and honestly I just melted. This man has tortured people in underground chambers and his softest moments are with this girl who makes him seafood porridge because he's allergic to alcohol. And then later, when she calls him 'my husband' in front of her brother — the text literally says 'something gently tap against his heart. He tightened his grip on her hand, fingers interlacing firmly with hers. He took her words seriously.' I SCREAMED. He took it seriously. After everything — the darkness, the violence, the ruthlessness — this one casual phrase from her lands like a bomb and he holds onto it. The sibling dynamic between Yu Zhi and Yu Heng is also so wholesome. She fakes crying and runs out because she's overwhelmed, and he's just sitting there confused like 'did I become part of some couple's prank?' But then when he remembers the accident — the blaring sirens, the violent impact — his face goes blank. That's when you know he's processing the weight of seven lost years. The CP chemistry is off the charts. Every touch, every glance between them feels earned.
This chapter is a masterclass in pacing because it does three completely different things back to back and each one lands perfectly. It opens with the Cheng Ning vs. Jiang Shanshan confrontation — high energy, sharp dialogue, public humiliation. This is the hook. You're immediately invested in whether Cheng Ning will win this exchange. And she does, but not by yelling. She stays calm, makes logical points, and lets Jiang Shanshan hang herself. The fight scene is tight, maybe 400 words, and it's over fast. No dragging. Then it pivots hard into the dormitory scene with Zhou Xiaomei. The energy drops from confrontational to intimate. We're inside a room now, sitting around a desk, looking at woven baskets. Zhou Xiaomei's story about her broken engagement is tragic but the author undercuts it with humor — Zhou Xiaomei insulting her own fiancé so viciously that everyone's faces twitch. This section breathes. It gives the reader a moment to catch their breath after the opening fight. Then — BAM — Cheng Ning goes to Han Dongyuan's dorm and the chapter ends on an unfinished sentence. The pacing here is brutal in the best way. We go from the warm, funny dorm scene to the quiet, intense carving scene in one paragraph. The transition is almost jarring, which is exactly what it should be. It's like the story is saying: okay, you thought that was the emotional peak? No. This is. The structure is basically: conflict → relief → tension. And that cliffhanger ending? The chapter cuts off mid-thought. I had to immediately read the next one. That's not accidental — that's the author knowing exactly how to hold a reader's attention.
This whole passage is basically a treatise on how food equals power in a patriarchal rural family, and I'm not even being dramatic. Let me lay it out: the stewed noodles aren't just dinner — they're the battlefield. Old Mrs. Wang controls the pot, she controls who eats. When Song Sihai grabs that enamel basin and marches off with more than half the noodles, he's not being greedy, he's claiming autonomy. That basin is a declaration of independence wrapped in enamel. And the underwear gossip! This is the most brilliant symbolic detail in the entire chapter. The villagers aren't just gossiping about lazy daughters-in-law — they're gossiping about a woman (Shen Xiuzhen) who does the laundry for women who refuse to work. The act of washing someone else's underwear is the ultimate symbol of servitude, and the fact that the whole village knows it turns Shen Xiuzhen's kindness into a public spectacle. Song Erlin's shame when he hears about it isn't just about face — it's about realizing that his family's internal dysfunction has become public property. The pig is another symbol I can't ignore. Old Mrs. Wang suggests the kids cut pigweed because "the pig in the backyard can't keep eating dishwater." A family on the verge of starvation is worried about a pig's diet while their own children complain that the noodles are "too watery." The absurdity here is intentional — this family has been so conditioned into scarcity that even their complaints are about luxury. And then there's the recurring motif of "hurt hands." Shen Xiuzhen's hands hurt, so she doesn't cook. Old Mrs. Wang's hands don't hurt, so she expects everyone else to serve her. Song Sihai weaponizes his mother's pain to avoid dishes. The hands are always the body part that determines who serves and who is served. It's a tiny physical detail that maps the entire power structure of this household. The marriage subplot with Hongxia and the bride price money adds another layer — women as currency, literally. Liu Zhaodi and Zhao Guifang are desperate to marry off their daughter/secure a daughter-in-law, but they're trapped by poverty. The thousand yuan dowry isn't just money, it's social capital, and the fact that they're considering selling blood for it shows how far the family has fallen.
I really like this story and it's easy to understand and it's so funny while reading this story ? it's good ?
writing 4story 2character 4update eh, idk, still new, so yeahworld background, still nothing, just a pavilion now.I don't like novels with problems from the start and more exaggerated problems that strictly go against the mc's personality, like wtf.and I don't see a romance tag, so in can he'll be single, better distance her from him cus I don't like to make an attachment to used goods in case she'll be having someone else.and make something with the exp, or else you'll have a headache with nonillions, etc, exp points by the time it's at the late stage of the novel or even more, ooof.(I'd be happy if it's more of a casual novel with this idea and don't make the fl a yandere cus it's annoying after a few chapters)
A must read, you will fall in over with all the characters.
it's a good start! Looking forward to reading more!?????

Congratulations to our dear Author, Hansora, for the new book! Wish you win the WSA 2025! ✧。٩(ˊᗜˋ )و✧*。Now, time for the review.Although I only read 10 chapters, the story pacing was well-written and the character settings were well-done. I read the chapter slowly and yet I fell that it was too short. I need more chapters! (,,>﹏<,,)While the plot starts with a cliche, the smooth narration makes the story flow naturally and lets me immerse in the situation faced by the character. The story has a lot of potential and I can't wait to see how Lari face-slaps the Green Tea fake daughter and makes her parents and brothers regret what they did. And of course, I'm ready to have a toothache from our couple's 'dog food'. (⸝⸝ᵕᴗᵕ⸝⸝)Keep up the good work and best of luck, Author! ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
