Supremeslothful
Let me just say this plot has layers. On the surface it's a romance about a reborn woman trying to reconnect with a man she lost in her previous life. But dig deeper and it's actually a survival story. Lin Aiyun knows things — she knows Xiao Cheng's patterns, she knows he'll fall for her beauty regardless of when they meet, she knows the timeline of events. But here's the thing that keeps me up at night: she's also vulnerable. She doesn't know WHY Xiao Cheng came to Lanxi County. "Treatment?" Liu Hui says, and won't elaborate. In her previous life, Xiao Cheng was always healthy. So what's wrong with him now? Is this a weakness she can exploit? Or is it a ticking clock — if he gets better, he leaves, and she loses her second chance? The subplot with Zhang Wenyue arranging a blind date is also doing heavy lifting. It's not just comic relief — it's raising the stakes. If Lin Aiyun gets married off to some Xu family son, her whole rebirth strategy falls apart. And that ending with the umbrella flying at her head? Classic cliffhanger. Something or someone is coming at her literally and figuratively. The plot is tightening like a noose and I am HERE for it.
Okay so I need to talk about this moment where Su Xiaoyin just casually drops 'Don't you want to marry me? Let us start by dating first.' on Yuan Songzhi and the entire Yuan family. My heart literally stopped. Like, she's been through absolute hell with the Lin family, she's been betrayed, abandoned, called a whore, and what does she do? She looks at this guy who's been quietly cooking for her and being decent, and she offers him the best thing she has - her name, her reputation, her partnership. And she's so brutally honest about it too. She literally tells them all 'my purpose was not pure' and that she just didn't want to trap him for life if he might meet someone he actually likes. That's... that's the most emotionally intelligent proposal in the history of romance novels. And Yuan Songzhi's reaction? He just goes completely stiff. Half his arm has no sensation. He says 'You don't have to wrong yourself like this.' Bro. She's offering you her hand in marriage and you're worried about her wronging herself. The man is a romantic in the most understated way possible. Meanwhile Lin Tianyang is over there calculating how to buy walnut crisps for Comrade Xue like some kind of sociopath. The contrast between these two men is honestly painful.
The worldbuilding in this novel is SO good and I need to talk about it. The author doesn't just describe settings—they make you FEEL the weight of every location. The spring outing scene is a masterclass in atmospheric writing. You've got talented scholars composing poetry, literati playing drinking games, noble ladies playing the qin and painting. It's this picture-perfect picture of Yanjing's elite at leisure. And then—CRASH. A dead goose lands in the grass, blood staining the tender spring green. The contrast between the elegant leisure and the sudden violence is jarring in the best way. It's like the author is telling you: this beautiful world has blood underneath it, and you're about to find out how deep it goes. Then there's the court scene in Chapter 3. The image of the Crown Prince standing among white-haired elderly ministers—"Clad in deep red gauze and purple robes, with a distant-travel crown on his head, the Crown Prince stood out prominently." This is such a vivid visual. He's young, powerful, and surrounded by old men who are all calculating how to use him. The author writes: "If not for the opposition of court officials, His Majesty would have nearly had the dragon robe made for the Crown Prince." That single sentence tells you everything about the political landscape. And the Liu family home—Wuchun Courtyard. Small, humble, but warm. The contrast between the cold, calculating world of the nobles and the warm but powerless Liu household is established so subtly. You don't need a chapter of exposition to understand where everyone stands in this world. The author also does something really clever with the milk vetch. This ordinary wildflower becomes the most important object in the scene because it gets crushed. It's a symbol of everything Liu Yun is—common, beautiful in its simplicity, and easily destroyed by people who don't even notice it's there.
need extras for mazes & floating orb, those layers
The story is insane it was like a rollercoaster ride and thanks to writer for making the story free❤️❤️❤️
I devoured 'The Immortal That Wants to Die' in one sitting, and I'm still reeling from the experience. This novel masterfully explores the complexities of immortality, delving into themes of existentialism, morality, and the human condition. The author's writing is evocative and immersive, with a narrative that's both poignant and thought-provoking. I highly recommend this novel to anyone looking for a compelling and introspective read.
This is quite a unique take of something like Mob and Mieruko, and it is quite funny and horrifying at the same time. Looking forward to the updates??❤️
Wow, wasn't expecting it to be so good. I see where this is going. Love how cold and calm the MC is, hope it continues to be this good as I read on. How much romance should we expect though, I like the typical fantasy romance web novels, if you give me a dose of that, I will read every chapter honestly
Have been enjoying this! The story is really good and engaging.
Homie is at it again. I hope this will be your year. The author has plenty of experience with video game novels so you can expect to be at the edge of your seat. I am looking forward to read more. The story is developing but I am already infested.
I'll be waiting for the next part. Try to format the webnovel in a better sense and if possible try to give us some preference images for the character's design❤️❤️
Nice bookI enjoyed every bit.I really think the chapter length should be increased.
