There's a symbol in this text that I can't stop thinking about, and it's the soul banner. Thirty thousand souls. Not ghosts, not memories—actual souls, refined and preserved, bound to a banner by the dying wish of a sect that chose death over surrender. "Our souls entering the soul banner will increase the banner's power and allow us to continue protecting our young sect leader in the future." This is community as literal infrastructure. The dead don't rest; they become part of the machinery that protects the living. It's haunting and beautiful and deeply unsettling all at once. Contrast that with the apocalypse world, where death is meaningless. Zombies are the ultimate erasure of self—no souls, no memories, just hunger. The mutant creatures aren't people who died; they're people who ceased to be people. In this world, the soul banner is an act of defiance. It says: we will not be erased. We will not become mindless. We will continue to protect, even in death. Then there's the Primordial Pearl—bound to Zhaoxun's soul, the reason her entire sect died, the object that apparently saved her by transporting her to this new world. It's described almost like a seed. Something primordial that contains the potential for rebirth. The apocalypse destroyed one world; the Pearl preserved its last practitioner and planted her in a world that needs saving. The cycle of destruction and renewal is right there in the object's name. And the cat. I keep coming back to the cat. A half-dead creature, nursed back to health, now fat and sleek and comfortable in air conditioning. In a world where everything is mutating toward violence and decay, Zhaoxun chooses to nurture something small and helpless. Not an army. Not a weapon. A cat. Is that accidental symbolism or intentional? I'm betting intentional. The empty base, the cut communications, the rescue team heading toward uncertainty—these all echo the Lian Sect's fall. A community destroyed, survivors scattered, the living trying to reach a place that may no longer exist. The theme seems to be: what do we carry forward when everything is lost? For Zhaoxun, it's thirty thousand souls and a pearl. For Jiang Chuan, it's loyalty to someone who gave him power and dignity. For the original Chu Zhaoxun, it was a prayer for others to live well. Different answers to the same question. That's what makes this story feel layered rather than generic.
So I've been thinking about the symbolism in this chapter, and there's actually a lot going on beneath the surface. The jade pendant—something she bought on a whim two years ago during a trip, just to deal with sales pressure—is what unlocks her entire new life. That's interesting because it represents how the smallest, most ordinary objects can become the most significant when circumstances change. The pendant is essentially a metaphor for the unpredictability of fate. Then there's the contrast between the Static Warehouse and the Active Farm. The warehouse preserves things exactly as they are—no time passes, nothing changes. The farm is alive, growing, evolving. I think this represents Yin Shan's own journey: she needs to preserve what she has (supplies, her family) but also grow and adapt to survive. And the Spiritual Lake—water that can cure all poisons and improve constitution—feels like a symbol of renewal and purification. She's literally being reborn, washed clean of her past life's mistakes. The father's near-death experience is also symbolic in a way—it's like Yin Shan gets to save him this time, redeeming herself for not being able to save him last time. The whole story feels like it's about second chances and the choices we make when given the opportunity to rewrite our fate.
It's a tradition to have a shameless review as the author. This is my second story after 'Miracle Card Shop, All My Card Can be Actualized". I'll give this one to you so you have a great experience! Please support me! And if you find my story enjoyable, please consider leaving a review!
Potencial to be one of my favorite novels indeed, looks really interesting, usually I dont expect a lot from new novels but this acctually surprised me for the positive.Right now one of few that I discovered scrolling random that I saved for keeping reading itIf you like Soul games you should give it a try, the MC is not dumb thank god, and seems pretty direct, a little bit suicidal at first but he does better later.
I have to say this, the beginning is absolutely flawless and I truly enjoy it. The hunger for vengeance and the thrill of the island really has me in its grasp ?so far it is truly interesting and I believe everyone will enjoy reading this novel.
absolutely mind-blowing and captivating novel, Author?
interesting premises, but... background building is a bit lacking, MC feels soulless although, its only 33 chapter, soo maybe I'll update the rating laterone question tho... apakah MC nya korban efisiensi anggaran?
Hello great author, I'm a huge fan of your work! Your book left a lasting impression on me, and I believe it has the potential to reach even more readers. I'd be honored to share some thoughts on how to enhance its impact and visibility. Would you be open to hearing my thoughts?
great book waiting for more chapters ...
To deepen the reader's understanding of each character's feelings and goals, I’ll be crafting detailed backstories for them. These backstories will reveal their past experiences, motivations, and personal struggles, providing a richer context for their actions and decisions in the story. This will help readers connect more deeply with each character and see how their past shapes their present and future.
This has been an interesting read so far. Though, having to wait a day to read more chapters is quite tiring.
Saasy? Is that you? If it is, then you deserve 5 stars?
