There's something deeply symbolic about the stairwell scene that I can't stop thinking about. Stairs — they're liminal spaces, right? You're neither here nor there. You're in between. And Haitang uses that in-between space to turn her enemy's aggression against herself. Zhang Xiaoxue wanted to push Haitang down, literally and figuratively. But instead, she falls on her own. The stairs become a mirror — they reflect back exactly what you put into them. This connects to the bigger theme of the novel: what goes around comes around. Haitang has lived this life before. She knows what betrayal looks like, she knows what malice feels like. In her past life, she may have been the one who fell. But this time, she's the one who dodges. And Wen Li — oh god, Wen Li. The girl who panics when she sees Haitang, who hides her jealousy and hatred behind lowered eyes. She's another piece of this puzzle, another person from Haitang's past whose true nature is starting to show. The author keeps returning to this idea of hidden faces — Zhang Xiaoxue's 'panicked mask,' Wen Li hiding her emotions, Haitang performing vulnerability while calculating everything. Nobody in this story is what they appear to be on the surface. Even the friendly deskmate Mingyue, who seems genuinely warm, exists in a world where everyone is playing a role. The deeper question the novel is asking is: in a world full of people wearing masks, how do you tell who's real? And Haitang's answer, so far, is to use her past-life knowledge as a compass — not to trust anyone blindly, but to read the cracks in their performances.
The worldbuilding in this section is so grounded and specific that I feel like I could step right into it. Let me just list some details that made me stop and appreciate the author's craft. Ration coupons. The fact that Lin Zhaoyang has to push back her mother's money because she's earning her own salary now. The state-owned restaurant as a special occasion treat. These aren't just background details—they're the fabric of daily life. When Wang Fenglan hands Lin Zhaoyang money and coupons for her brother's food allowance, it's a tiny moment that tells us everything about how the economy works. Then there's the housing situation. The Lin family lives in factory housing, which is why they can't leave it empty. Zou Zhengting drives a truck for work and has to apply for local routes instead of long-haul ones. The furniture is custom-made through a factory, delivered by the factory's own crew. These are the textures of a specific time and place. But the scene that really lives in my head is the kitchen. Zou Zhengting's house has "exactly the same layout as hers." He hadn't remodeled anything, hadn't even repainted the walls. It's a small detail but it tells us so much about him—he's practical, he doesn't waste money on unnecessary changes, and he's been living a parallel life to Lin Zhaoyang's. The sensory details are what make it all come alive though. The smell of the braised chicken and potatoes wafting through the courtyard. The delivery workers stopping on the street to take deep breaths. The visual of Lin Zhaoyang directing movers and handing out cigarettes like a boss. This world feels lived-in and real.
Review after reading 10 chaps:Writing quality is amazing, the author's choice of words is really beautiful (very poetic). The pace is a bit slower than I expected but it'll probably catch up in the next chapters. World building is amazing as well.A highly recommended book!
This is really good don’t give up or drop it just keep going and people will catch on
This is my first review and my first web novel, so I may not know the exact measures to judge a story but I do know when a novel keeps pulling me in. this is one of those rare gems I can’t stop reading. The depth of the protagonist, shaped by a hundred lifetimes of suffering and wisdom, makes every moment feel meaningful. The world is rich with mystery, power struggles, and a sense of destiny that keeps unfolding with each chapter. I don’t know why this novel is so underrated, but for me, it’s something special one that lingers in my mind long after I stop reading.
Story is getting good every single day I just love everything about the plot.???????????????????????????????.love it love ??????????????????????????????????This is so good that it has me keeping my legs close but this awesome keep up the good work.!!!!!!!!so sad!!!!??????
So far your writing is pretty good, but I can't get the hang of having to be big in the early chapters, it feels a bit boring, and d and at the beginning I didn't know which way this story would go, but the mystery is quite fascinating. Keep up the spirit!
I'm totally loving this book. Definitely a must read ?. Give post more chapters author you have my vote??.I almost feel like am in 3rd persons pov.

I'll be honest, this review will obviously have some author bias.I personally feel this is an epic story. It tells the story of someone who has known struggle all their life, suddenly thrust into a brand new world, and losing everything once more. It's also a redemption tale, and one that should resonate with any reader that picks it up.Or, I hope so.Now, a major criticism many readers will give is the slow pace. However, give it up to the 10-12th chapter, and the current will flow much faster. It would do you good to just read the story and enjoy Liu's adventure.Another criticism would be Liu's pettiness and personality display at the early point of the novel. Remember, even if he's reincarnated, it doesn't mean he's one wise and mature sage. He was bred in a cruel environment which makes him selfish, petty, and very self-centered. Obviously, with character development, he grows.Other than that, I think it all boils down to individual taste. Please don't unreasonably hate on this book just because it doesn't do what YOU want. I'd like to hear your opinions through comments or reviews. I'm always willing to grow and learn. Thank you all for reading.
I just finished reading your book, and I have to say, it’s absolutely fantastic! I truly enjoyed it. I’d love to offer a few tips that might help boost the performance and visibility of your book even more. I believe these could take your work to the next level
This book was a real page-turner! I couldn't put it down. The atmosphere was incredibly dark and suspenseful, and the twists and turns kept me guessing. The characters were complex and intriguing, and the writing was sharp and atmospheric. Highly recommend it to fans of action, anti hero.
