There's a recurring image in this chapter that I can't stop thinking about: the mass grave outside the city. In Qingqing's previous life, she helped her mistress dispose of maids and concubines there. It's a place of erasure — people who became inconvenient simply vanish. Now, in this life, she encounters the Marquis Manor carriage heading there with Lin Heng's beaten body, and then she heads in that same direction herself. The mass grave is becoming a symbol of this world's treatment of people who have no power. Maids. Concubines. Servants. They live, they serve, and when they're no longer useful, they disappear. Qingqing's entire existence has been oriented around this place — first as a participant in its horrors, now as someone trying to escape it. But here's the thing — she's not running AWAY from the mass grave. She's heading TOWARD it. Why? Is she going to investigate? To confront whatever fate awaits Lin Heng? Or is the narrative suggesting that in this world, there is no escape from the systems of power that grind people down? Another symbol: the red lacquered chests. They fill the entire courtyard, representing wealth, status, marriage — the traditional markers of a woman's success. But they're also a cage. Mo Xiang is trading one form of confinement (her family's household) for another (the Marquis Manor). And Qingqing, who sees through all of this, is the only one who actually walks away. The peach blossoms of Peach Blossom Village represent something different — a life of quiet freedom, far from schemes and power. But can someone like Qingqing, who has spent her life in servitude, actually find peace there? Or is that just another illusion?
The opening image of this chapter is just *cinematic*. Ji Mingzhu standing at the doorway braving the cold wind, her nose bright red from the chill, eyes slightly reddened — you can literally feel the temperature dropping just reading it. And then Xie Yunzheng strides past her 'stirring a gust of cold wind.' The author doesn't even need to describe the mansion's opulence or the winter landscape explicitly; the cold becomes this atmospheric character itself. It mirrors the emotional temperature of every interaction in this story. Then you have the interior scene — the Old Matriarch's courtyard, the tea service, the list of eligible young ladies being passed around like Ji Mingzhu is an object to be discussed. The contrast between the biting cold outside and the suffocating warmth inside is brilliant. And later, Xie Yunzheng kicking snow after Ji Mingzhu walks away with his brother — this small, almost childish gesture of frustration says everything about his internal state. The author has this incredible ability to use environmental details to externalize what characters can't say. The plum blossoms mentioned at the end, the snow, the cold wind — it's all part of this winter atmosphere that makes the whole Xie household feel like a gilded cage. Every scene is so visually precise I could film it.

I still can't move on from my current reading chapter, but I want to give a review. This book is definitely worth anyone's time! The story takes you from one tragic episode to another, and I promise, you won’t be able to take your mind off it easily. There's something about the author’s writing style that hooks you to Leo’s story, and you won’t want to let go until you’ve finished the latest update. The world, the emotions, and the motivations are so raw. This is truly a gem on this platform!
it's good i am feeling it finally geting something like solo leveling
I really like this novel, it's a modern fantasy and the chemistry between the male lead and the female lead made me rethink my relationship, hahaha just kidding, but this novel is amazing.
a very nice interesting story but short chapters.
