The casual misogyny in that line still makes my blood boil. But what got me wasn't even the theft — it was the aftermath. She's on her hands and knees scrambling after the loan sharks, and her mother and brother are just... cursing at her from the side. "So your brother used a little of your money. Must you carry on like this?" She smashes the family portrait. She tells them she has no parents, no family. And then she breaks down crying in Andy's arms because she has NOTHING left. The contrast between her strength with Meng Yancheng and her complete devastation at home is devastating. She can outsmart a drugged situation and a pharmaceutical company, but her own family treats her like an ATM with a pulse. And Andy? He's there catching her, yes, but she's stained his expensive suit with blood and tears and she doesn't even care. That's not romance, that's desperation. The most heartbreaking line for me was probably "Do you know how hard I worked... how much I drank... Andy, my house, my house is gone!" She's not just crying about money, she's crying about six years of sacrifice evaporating in ten minutes. I keep thinking about how Meng Yancheng sees her as this composed, stock-savvy woman who knows her boundaries, and meanwhile her entire family is a war zone. How does that affect her relationship with him? Is she performing composure because she has to, or is that the real her too? And what happens when he finds out about her family?
I wish this could go on for thousands of chapters.

One thing I like about this book is there's a mix of hard and soft magic system. The author doesn't try to infodump us but introduce the system slowly as the story progresses so we could understand it easily. The main character also feels relatable. She's not a damsel in distress or fkin mary sue. She's not perfect and has some flaws but she could cover it and solve her problems with her intelligence, logic, and quickthinking.
