"I loved Gu Huaiyuan with all my heart. He was the one with weak sperm and fertility issues, but I was so afraid it would break him that I kept the truth hidden from him all these years!" I read that line and just... stopped. My chest actually hurt. Because here's this woman who gave everything—her money, her home, her emotional labor, her dignity—and the man she loved spent years calling her useless behind her back while sleeping with the girl she treated like a sister. The part that wrecked me most was the detail about Lin Weiwei trying on Su Ying's jewelry, carrying her designer bags, wearing her clothes, and bragging on the phone that she was sleeping with Su Ying's husband while Su Ying was still sending her five thousand yuan a month. FIVE THOUSAND YUAN. To the woman whose husband was cheating with her. That's not just betrayal—that's dehumanization. And Su Ying's reaction wasn't some cartoonish villain moment. She broke down crying. She asked the police officer, "Am I really the one at fault?" And I get it. I genuinely get it, even though what she did was monstrous. The author didn't make her a monster for the sake of it—they made her a person who loved too much and was destroyed for it, and then chose to destroy everything in return. Meanwhile, over at the mall, Wen Qingli is having this whole internal crisis about Bai Chuxue buying a coat for Lu Zheng. She's feeling this "sourness, heaviness, and a faint sense of helplessness." And it's almost funny how small that pain feels compared to Su Ying's devastation—but it's also real. Because love, even the quiet kind, still hurts when you're not sure you're enough. Two different love stories, same theme: people giving everything and getting crushed.
I need to talk about Pei Yanqiu because THIS MAN. He's cooking pan-fried dumplings at 7 AM, he's blushing when she compliments his cooking, and he's secretly happy she called his dumplings delicious even though she called his previous attempt awful. The man is a whole mood. But the real character moment is how Shen Xingyao handles him. She goes from "I'm asleep I can't hear anything" (while literally fake snoring) to having her nose pinched and being forced into a real conversation. And then she immediately starts flattering him: "Young man, it seems you're not just talented at gaming—you're top-tier at cooking too~~" The way she reads him is impressive. She knows he's jealous about the game CP call, so she deflects with the money talk. She knows he wants to praise her for getting money back, so she acts proud of her scam discovery. This isn't the same woman who would've thrown a pot of stewed dumplings at him on day one. The transformation is real. And Pei Yanqiu? He's genuinely trying. He says he'll borrow more money from friends so she doesn't run out. That's not a throwaway line—that's a guy who's already thinking about how to support her. The fact that she refuses because "they weren't at that point yet" shows she's setting boundaries while still being careful not to hurt his feelings.
There are two images in this scene that I can't stop thinking about: the wall and the knees. The aunt gets slammed against a wall—pinned, helpless, elevated and dangling. And then she ends up on her knees, trembling, bruised, unable to rise. These aren't just physical positions; they're symbols of the entire power dynamic flipping. For however long this aunt has been dominant in Su Tanghuan's life, she's been the one standing over her. Now she's the one pinned and kneeling. The wall becomes a symbol of the barriers Su Tanghuan has had to climb over her whole life, and now she's using those same barriers to trap her abuser. And the knees—kneeling in this world is supposed to be an act of respect, of hierarchy. But Su Tanghuan weaponizes it. She tells her aunt to stand up properly because 'I'm your junior,' forcing the aunt to perform the very deference she never showed Su Tanghuan when she had the power. There's also the imagery of the maids forming an impenetrable barrier at the gate, sticks slapping against palms. They're literally creating a wall between the old power (Zheng Fu's servants) and the new power (the Ji Residence). The story seems to be about how the oppressed can become the oppressor—and how Su Tanghuan is choosing to use the tools of her oppressor (violence, hierarchy, public humiliation) but redirecting them toward justice. Or at least, toward something that feels like justice to her.
Okay so I need to talk about Zhang Yang because honestly I wanted to throw my phone at him. The way he just immediately distance himself from Shi Ailing the SECOND the soldiers showed up? 'I'm not familiar with this woman.' BRO. You were together, you were eating together, and the moment someone with a gun and a bus appears you're drawing a line? That's not survival instinct, that's pure opportunistic cowardice. But here's what's interesting — Shi Ailing sees right through it. She's furious, screaming, but underneath all that hysteria there's this moment where she looks at Gu Chen and suddenly recalculates everything. 'If she could attach herself to such a man, she would surely have a comfortable life in the future.' That line gave me chills. She's assessing him like a commodity. The woman is a snake, no doubt about it, but she's a snake who knows exactly how the world works now. And then there's the sister dynamic between Xie Ning and Song Kexin — completely different energy. Xie Ning is ruthless but in the most protective way possible. When Song Kexin starts to faint at the sight of the zombie family, Xie Ning's response is basically 'don't you dare pass out, kill first, vomit second, faint third.' It's brutal and hilarious and somehow the most loving thing either of them has ever said to each other.
I personally liked the story so far, of course the author just needs to deal with some small grammar issues but what author doesn't have them? anyway this is a good, interesting story to read and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone! "This story has everything—romance, action, mystery, and deep psychological twists! The characters are intriguing, the plot keeps you hooked, and there's always something unexpected around the corner. A fresh and exciting read—definitely worth following!"
This story has some seriously strong atmosphere. The writing is really vivid and cinematic, which makes the action scenes feel alive and intense. But at the same time, it leans a little too heavily into dramatic prose in almost every paragraph, which can make the impact of the big moments blur together. Not every line needs to be poetic (I do the same mistake) sometimes the simple stuff hits harder when it’s surrounded by quieter beats. Also, while the characters are intriguing their internal voices could be more distinct. Right now, the narration style feels a little too similar across the board. The worldbuilding is rich, but there are a few moments where exposition dumps slow things down or feel a bit crammed in. Letting more of the world unfold through natural character moments or dialogue might help the pacing. And speaking of dialogue, it could use a little more bite. A sharper edge or more personality in how characters speak would take the tension up a notch. Overall, though, it’s a strong start with real emotional depth and a lot of promise. With some polish, this could really shine.
Nice one. Subscribe and enjoy a good day. Follow me fans
The book itself has a lot of promise. I’ve enjoyed the chapters so far, and since the author basixally stated multiple times that it is something he/she is refining, I’ll be more mild with my early review. I really like the world building, seems very unique. I’m excited to see if there are other things/beings that can help one on the steps, which would be interesting. I reallly like the power system, it’s very unique, almost philosophical in a what. With good and bad, but not just action but intention as well( atleast that’s how i took it). Very intersting and it would be really cool to see the MC try and figure out the path without Noix (forgot the spelling) and actually have stronger understanding of the path, since that would make him more evil. Would be cool.I like the naming schemes too, kind of like the quinces in Bleach with the almost french (how I felt) or romantised language. Grammar and all of that definitely can be improved, but i’m judging on story and development that i’m seeing so far, not on writing style. I’ll keep it in my library and wait for more uploads, so let’s see how it goes.
Selalu menunggu kelanjutannya ceritanya sepet apa, berharap pembangunan kota di detail lagi......,.............................. Selu semangat untuk penulis
