Okay so I need to talk about this opening chapter because honestly it completely wrecked me in the best way. Qin Yuzheng is this impossibly composed, thirty-five-year-old party secretary who has spent his entire life treating everything like a transaction—marriage for political resources, emotions as liabilities, desire as nonexistent. And then BAM. A woman in a cheongsam appears through a café window and shatters six years of emotional ice. The dream sequence is written so subtly too. It's not gratuitous at all, it's almost poetic: "Her lips were soft. Sweet. Completely intoxicating." Three words. That's it. And yet you feel the weight of thirty-five years of repression crashing through in that single moment. What got me the most was reading about his failed marriage. His wife would kiss him, touch him, literally guide his hand to her breast—and he felt absolutely nothing. The way the author describes her face shifting from anticipation to confusion to embarrassment to disappointment... I literally had to put the book down for a second. This is a man who has everything—power, wealth, respect—and the one thing he can't control is his own body's response to another human being. And then Qiu Jinyi drops the most devastatingly funny line: "You're just far too picky. You simply haven't met the right woman, so your body never responded." I actually laughed out loud. It's the perfect comedic relief after such heavy emotional ground. Also—Yang Zhiyan's chapter ending. Her sister-in-law is already sizing her up, mentioning her age, talking about a cousin. The romantic tension hasn't even started yet and I'm already invested. This author knows how to make you feel something.
okay it's good story with good pace and the starting is good I almost about to read the spoiler chapter ? keep it up
I need a moment to process because… WOW. ?? The storytelling here is insane in the best way. Every twist hit me like a punch to the gut, and I loved how unpredictable it was. The atmosphere, the action, the emotions—it all just worked so well together. Seriously, do yourself a favor and read this.
As much as I want to say that every reaction by either politicians of our country or the west is 2d and fictional but they are not...these reactions genuinely feel so real.. something they might really do...
did you take a break or did u drop already
overall a great read i look forward to seeing more and making him get stronger and don't side line the system like that. but it has a lot of potential and it might make a great manga don't slack on this one u hit and run author and I would love to see more characters development that all. and if u don't know who this is then I are semi dumb this is just my personal thoughts.
This story is actually good like I am hooked with this. I usually see stories that are good but this one is different. I sort of love some of the characters but since this story only has five chapters up. I literally only have two but I hope the author redeems Jake somehow since he is on my bad side. The writing is good but I feel like the author likes writing formally but I don't complain. I feel like world building will come soon so I will be patient. I hope the actual story starts soon and this story gets more recognition.
Jejeheehehehehehhe third reviev is mine and I’m not giving it away
The story has a rich world building and amazing characters that are well thought out and developed! The author possess a rich vocabulary and strong grammar skills, making the story an enjoyable reading experience. If you guys have a little bit of time, I strongly recommend giving this novel a try!
I read till chapter 44 and I had to drop this garbage. The MC has no personality. He has just been acting arrogantly from the start. He got even more arrogant the further I read. Any male character is an automatic bastard, Only fallen females are 'good' and all of them are helpless damsels in need of the MC to save them. Also the plot, it does not feels like we are moving toward anything, with the main character being the facilitator of that movement. The MC is passive, the plot just drags him along and make him act according to it (and we all know who is behind the plot)Most of all, is the fact that the MC is turning into one of those cringe chinese protagonists with hidden plans. He's going around and trying to defy everybody's expectations of him, even when there is no real reason to. But as I said, it is the plot that drags the MC, not the other way around. The idea was good, but the one behind it failed to measure up their idea. And with a story like this, how come all but one sing praises for an obvious low tier work?
This novel is amazing! It's so much fun to read, and it gets my blood pumping. I was instantly hooked and can't wait to read more! 10/10!
