I'm not going to lie — the moment Chao Xun names the vine "Qing Teng" and it "bent its leaves as if nodding" — I got genuinely warm inside. There's something so satisfying about a creature of pure danger choosing to submit, not through force, but through something that feels almost like mutual respect. She sees potential in it. It sees a worthy master. That's not just a contract, that's a bond. And Qilin's jealousy! The little furball is like "I've been here first, remember?" and Chao Xun has to remember to pet it too. It's the kind of small emotional beat that makes the world feel alive. These aren't just tools or weapons — they're companions with personalities. But the emotional peak for me is Jiang Chuan's internal monologue. "Sob sob sob, why was he, Jiang Chuan, so lucky?" He's genuinely overwhelmed with gratitude and awe. This isn't manufactured drama — it's the raw reaction of someone who has survived the apocalypse and finally found someone worth following. The text says: "Every time he thought Sister Xun was already formidable enough, he would be shocked by her power all over again." That's devotion, pure and simple. There's also this undercurrent of loneliness in the group dynamic. They're all together, but each person is processing this in their own way. Su Jin is calculating strategic value. Wang Peng is thinking about gourmet food. Zhang Yuan and Jiang Qing are internally celebrating their good fortune in being on this team. Chen Yi is just happily following orders. They're a team, but they're also individuals with different emotional relationships to Chao Xun. That's what makes the group feel real — not everyone is moved in the same way, and that's okay.
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless and I love it. Let me break down why this works so well. Chapter 9 starts with Shen Wan'er already on her knees — we don't get any buildup, no slow burn, just immediate confrontation. The scene moves at a breakneck pace: tears, denial, evidence, expulsion, parting threat. It's over in what feels like ten minutes of real time but packs the emotional weight of an entire season of a drama. And then — chapter 10 — the board meeting. The author doesn't even let us catch our breath. Shen Wan'er is gone and suddenly we're in a corporate war room. The transition is seamless because Shen Nian herself is the bridge: she goes from the living room confrontation straight to the study, straight to finding the deleted files, straight to warning Shen Yanzhou about the board meeting. There's no filler, no breathing room, no "meanwhile" chapters. Every scene pushes the story forward and the tension only compounds. The 2:07 a.m. remote deletion detail is a masterclass in pacing — it's a tiny detail that suddenly makes the entire Shen family feel like a house of cards. Someone is actively erasing evidence while Shen Nian is still in the room. The chapter ends not with resolution but with a warning: "don't let the wrong people speak first." That's a cliffhanger that doesn't rely on shock value — it relies on dread. I know exactly what's coming and I can't stop reading. The author understands that the best pacing isn't about speed, it's about making every single moment feel inevitable.
Looks good and promising140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140140

Amazing novel, strong MCs personality, unique power system, mystery and sci-fi. What else is needed? Just for the author to continue this amazing work ?
please update more ✨I really like thd story
Sorry for the inconveniences we (male) cause
Wonderful. The story has a somewhat slow pacing, but its packed full of content and i never feel like the story is lacking anything. Read it yourself and be blown away by the amazing writing and story that this author produces.
Update as of chapter 29; The Vote- The Author is cooking on this one, although it is quite slow tbh, but you can feel it that the author is really taking his time building his characters, especially the Mc. So here is my opinion:Writing quality: 4.5/5 Although it might be a slightly more difficult to read, but I personally feel like it really suits the story, the writing in question is a bit poetic, maybe even too much in some instances, but in the second arc it starts to simplify, I feel like it was intentional.. to set the tone of the arc. My opinion, yours might differUpdating stability: 5/5 I mean what is there to say, one chap a day, sometimes 2-3. As is it the Authors hobby at this point in time it is good. Keep it up.Story development: 4/5I feel like the author is playing around too much. The pacing could be better, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. I mean as of right now it seems to be around 20-30 chaps with 1.5k - 2k word count for an average arc, so decide for yourself. If you are searching for a brain rot novel that you turn your brain down and read, this might not be for you. This is a journey of not only action, but emotions, bonds and so much more.Characters: 4.5/5 Maybe I’m biased, but I feel like the characters are good, The Mc especially in the latest chapters. He’s smart, but is still lacking. Not like the perfect Mc’s you sometimes encounter. While he is cold and doesn’t hesitate to slice at a dude, we still haven’t seen him in action properly, but that is why I’m exited for this arc. The side cast is good, although it could be a little more fleshed out. My personal favourite would be either Talia or Handy. Well we’ll see where the author takes this. Also what I have to mention. I really like the dialog of this work. Sometimes it might be too much, but it really reflects the dark world they live in, don’t worry its not edgy or "deep" ?World Building - 3/5 - for nowWell although we still haven’t seen much of it, because we are still stuck in the slum. I believe the next arc might delve into that a little bit more. There was a hint of a Major conflict with the Beast, for now it seems a little bit generic conflict... But I’ll let the author cook. Maybe it’ll be a giant surprise waiting for us.Power system: 4/5 The power system is a generic mana/spells/elements but the Author could be hiding something in his sleeve.I mean there’s nothing wrong with it, I like such stories, but there is also nothing much to see. But again, we’re still in the beginning and haven’t seen much, so there could be way more waiting for us. Also there are Gods apparently, that actually exist and can grant power? if I understood it correctly. I give 5 stars because the book really deserves some exposure.Great work author, keep up the good work :)
