SweetnessSaintess
Okay so let me just say this plot twist had me wheezing. Xia Miao gets pushed literally into a blood-soaked slasher's path and what does she do? She doesn't scream. She doesn't beg. She looks at this guy who just dug a man's heart out and goes, "You're my type, now make me fall in love with you." And the absolute BEST part? The slasher BELIEVES he outsmarted her. He's over there scheming about playing along and then slicing her throat later, completely missing the fact that she already saw through his whole psycho routine. Meanwhile, the middle-aged guy Lin Gaoshan is strutting around claiming he outplayed the slasher like it was nothing, and we ALL know he just threw Xia Miao to the wolves. The dramatic irony is delicious. And then—plot twist within a plot twist—the shadow boy gets DUMPED by Xia Miao because she mistakes him for a pervert, and he's standing there going "wait, is something wrong with my head?!" The author is playing 4D chess with this narrative and I am HERE for it. The survival game structure is tight, the executioner world-building is creepy but fun, and the way the plot threads are starting to weave together? Chef's kiss.
The stakes in this section are layered in the best possible way. On the surface you have Su Jinle's business - will she make enough money to treat her brother's leg? That's a concrete, measurable goal that the reader can immediately understand and care about. But then the author keeps raising the stakes. Gu Jingxiu shows up and suddenly it's not just about money - it's about Su Jinle's independence, her future, her choice of partner. She'd rather marry a dog than him, which is a pretty high-stakes declaration. Then you have Su Yi'an's secret life as a spy, the organization closing in, the possibility that he'll be demoted to gatekeeping if his leg doesn't heal. And Song Shixu's comment about Su Jinle being "too delicate" - that's a threat hanging over her head even though she has no idea it exists. The most tension-filled moment for me was when Su Yi'an asks Song Shixu to arrange for his job to be far away from Jingbei. Why? Because he's worried about his sister. He's worried that having a disabled brother will make her a laughingstock. This connects all the plot threads together - the business success, the family dynamics, the spy mission, the romantic tension. Everything is linked. And the author never lets you forget it. When Su Jinle is counting her money at home, happy and relieved, the very next scene cuts to her brother receiving a spy document. The contrast is brutal and effective.
While the idea of a regressed tower climber isn’t anything new. The set up is done well, the characters are interesting, and the abilities are cool. Not to mention I haven’t seen any typos which is honestly rare with newer novels. I rate this novel pretty decently. I’ll stack it for now and read it later.
6 chapter in, I must say this is a rare gem…also your writing style is uniqueRecommend 10/10
Awesome story. Everything about it, the plot, the pacing, the writing style, the world building, the action, EVERYTHING JUST COMES TOGETHER, that's why, for me it's 5 stars. You can really see that the author put soo much effort and hardwork, begins their work, making it almost to perfection. i don't use the term PEAK, But this ABSOLUTELY IS PEAK. If you're looking to try it, read it by all means. also author, GREAT JOB MAN, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
