"I am running checks no-" Karin barely finished it's sentence before the ship lurched forward and began dropping at an even greater speed. Cahir felt a stomach sickening sensation as he was dropped. He wanted to throw up.
when the light dimmed I I stood their shocked at what just happened
"I am not hugging you" Powerman replied in disgust as he took a step away from Spiderman
- "Sarah, there is some repairs to be done, a vent shutter got banged up on the back where you found me, could you please fix it? Ask George for help if you need any... * sigh * I'm going home now, see you tomorrow "- John said as he made his exit from the lab.
The atmosphere in these chapters is just... heavy. Like, you can physically feel the weight of it. Chapter 1 opens with Suian looking up at a "brilliant blue" sky with white clouds, and the very next sentence is "no matter how good a foreign land was, it was not home." That contrast hits so hard. Fresh air, sweet water, and she'd trade it all to go back to being a nobody in her own town. The worldbuilding doesn't need exposition dumps—it's woven into every interaction. The slave market scene is chilling in its matter-of-factness. Children being evaluated like livestock—"can she even carry two catties of firewood?"—and the other kids laughing to survive. The tooth-mother counting heads and already muttering about a "losing business" while Suian is sitting right there on the edge of the cart. The hierarchy is so clearly established: the wealthy families want literate study companions because having a tutor means you need literate servants around them. It's a whole ecosystem of value. And then the Chu Mansion itself—fourth-rank military officials, a General father, a household so strict that even a deposit contract is scrutinized. The rain in Chapter 2 blending "heaven and earth into a single hue" sets this cold, damp mood that follows Suian into her new life. The study, the flowering trees in the courtyard, Ziyu bending low to pass through them—every detail places us in this world without stopping the narrative. It feels lived-in, not constructed.
For sure, he really didn't mean it. He had only leaked a little of his beastly aura, which only the beast in front of him could detect, but who would have thought that the Equines would react differently.
Richie bows toward me, and by his eyes narrow in acceptance yet soft, I could tell he truly feels grateful for me letting them go so easy, and that he knows I fully intend to keep this promise of no charge. I walk over to the gathered Ruffians and begin healing the worse of their injuries. There wasn't much to heal as nothing too serious happened around this time. Finishing up, I casually stroll on back to my guests.
"Really?! that's great, I will go right now!" Zarg suddenly jumped from his seat. "Edward, would you mind if I left you here for a few minutes, I must go to my son"
"What did you say? I couldn't quite hear you."
(Gai) "Yes Young Rajen."
Looking down, negative thoughts are running through his mind. She seems to get his point and smiled at him.
"...." The 2 maids and 2 men who wore suits like bodyguards, twitching their mouths seeing their young masters acting like that.
