Perfect comic relief that actually deepens their relationship before the next conflict hits. And the chapter ending - Liu Xiyin just walking away after delivering her final verdict to Bai Manman. No dramatic cliffhanger, no 'but then something happened!' Just her stepping out of the door. The story trusts us to understand that this is the real climax. Sometimes the most powerful moment is when someone finally leaves.
I need to talk about this one scene because it absolutely wrecked me. You know how some stories try to make the family's decision to sell a child feel tragic and heartbreaking? This one doesn't. This novel is garbage, I means the way it portrays wealth and the wealthy is preposterous. It’s like this novel is written by a kid who has never experienced adult-life before and decided to go with the version shown in movies. While, I am not one to criticise someone especially one who is working, this novel is extremely unrealistic.

As I always say, system themed stories have a way of making any small flaw go unnoticed. I wish there was more focus on worldbuilding. Nevertheless, the writer does a great job at anchoring the readers interest. This goes to the collection.
