There's something deeply symbolic about the silver needles in this story. They're a keepsake from Zhiyi's mother—so they represent maternal lineage, inherited wisdom, the women who came before her. But they're also instruments of healing in a world that keeps trying to hurt her. Every time she uses them, she's reclaiming power. The poisoning subplot is equally loaded thematically. Someone is systematically trying to kill Elder Chief Lin from within his own home—through his food, through people he trusts. It's a metaphor for how betrayal operates: it doesn't come from enemies outside, it comes from people at your table. And Zhiyi, who was betrayed by her own family (the Song family scheming to marry her off, selling her job), recognizes this pattern immediately. She sees the poison where others would just see an old man's bad health. Her medical skill is also her emotional skill—she can diagnose what's wrong when everyone else is too polite or too blind to see it. The contrast between the warm, simple meal at the Lin house (braised pork, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, steaming white rice) and the cold calculation happening in the Du household is striking. One family offers genuine hospitality; the other offers conditional acceptance. What kind of world do we want to live in? That's the question this story is asking.
Let me just say this: the author has a very specific rhythm going on in these chapters and it works. Chapter 14 opens with the aftermath of their big emotional confrontation — Xie Zhao is still processing, Jiang He is still defensive, and they're working through it in real time. That's a smart structural choice. Instead of having them resolve everything in one dramatic scene and then move on, the author lets the resolution breathe across multiple interactions. First the physical closeness (the hug that goes too far), then the argument about her traveling alone, then the oath scene, then the wonton eating where they actually talk business. Each beat serves a different purpose. Then Chapter 15 shifts entirely — it's practical, it's about the journey home, the horse rental, the return to Anyue. The pacing here is almost documentary-like. You've got the relay station, the horse selection, the ride back, the deposit return, Auntie Zhang's cameo, the next morning routine. It's all very matter-of-fact. But that's the point. The author is showing us that these characters have real lives with real logistics. They're not just existing in a romance bubble. The transition from the emotional intensity of Chapter 14 to the practical business focus of Chapter 15 is jarring in the best way — it grounds the story. And the ending of Chapter 15, with Jiang He explaining the grading system to the other women and then realizing the timeline problem (autumn harvest, New Year delivery), it's a perfect little cliffhanger that doesn't feel manufactured. The author is building tension through practical constraints rather than dramatic reveals, and I respect that approach. It makes the world feel real.
"How's Tangtang doing?" Three simple words from Fu Shen and I felt something in my chest. This man has been searching for someone — presumably his daughter — for who knows how long, and his first question upon reunion isn't about revenge or power or even Su Qingyue. It's about the child. The text says his eyes were "bright, affectionate" when looking at Fu Shen. But Fu Shen's entire being is focused elsewhere. He glances in a certain direction one more time before leaving, wondering if it was "an illusion born from longing." That line destroyed me. The idea that he's been seeing ghosts, hoping, searching, for someone everyone else has given up on. And then there's Yu Yue's internal monologue about Fu Jingyan. She thinks about how handsome he is, then immediately catches herself because he just appeared. The guilt, the fear, the complicated history — it's all there in these small moments. She's carrying a secret that could shatter everything, and she has to sit across from him at a family dinner. Lin Lan's amnesia is its own kind of tragedy. She's living this carefree life, borrowing names from novels, but there's a whole person she's forgotten. And now potentially a daughter? The horror on her face when Li Kui explains isn't just shock — it's the dread of having your entire identity questioned. The friendship between Yu Yue and Lin Lan feels genuinely warm though. Lin Lan insisting Yu Yue dress up, the coffee on the balcony, the concern about spending money wisely. These small moments of care anchor all the drama. And Fu Jingyan — he's stuck in this weird limbo. Still performing husband duties while knowing the marriage is ending. Still caring enough to be jealous of a senior brother he barely knows. The emotional confusion is palpable.
"You have no right to interfere." — Zhang Lanxiang, probably while pointing dramatically at her daughter-in-law's former sister-in-law. I am OBSESSED with this woman. Like, genuinely. Here's a mother-in-law who doesn't do any of the toxic tropes we're used to. She doesn't resent the daughter-in-law for being wealthy. She doesn't try to diminish her. She sees Li Guihua being petty and absolutely EATS HER ALIVE in front of everyone. And the best part? She's doing it for her son AND his future wife. That scene where she whispers to Qingqian and then immediately flips her expression from furious to warm? That's not manipulation — that's a woman who knows exactly how to navigate her family and protect the people she loves. Meanwhile Xu Huaian is just over there being quietly perfect. He buys her breakfast, chops firewood, gets tackled by his future mother-in-law's verbal fury and just stands there taking it. And when he meets the Tang family, he apologizes for the bruise on Tang Jincheng's face like he's genuinely sorry, even though Tang Jincheng was spying on him. This man is built different. The relationship between Qingqian and Xu Huaian feels so grounded — there's no grand declarations, just him bringing her warm water and her telling him everything because they're building something real. Also Tang Jincheng's bruised face is now my favorite visual gag in literature.
Hey ? great author, I want to share you some tips on how to grow your book performance, along with making fantastic book covers and I will also use line art to make animated animations let me know if u are interested so talk discuss better??
Author: This book isn't a perfect 5 star but since.. i am the author, so you know? I need to be 'kind' to myself.Note: If you enjoyed works like LOTM and RI as well as popular transmigration novels then I am pretty sure you'll enjoy this book of mine. What To Expect: A protagonist who is calm and manipulative however he isn't someone like Fang Yuan who is purely emotionless. No, the main character has emotions and I try my best to make him feel humane while still keeping his image as a 'monster'.The storyline starts off a bit normal but trust me as it progresses it's gonna become more and more engaging and interesting, Uh and it isn't in the tags but there will be romance though not heavy but very light, don't worry I won't spoil the mc's image and will balance it all perfectly. The writing is the best I can provide at the moment, I am a writer who hardly has 3 weeks worth of writing experience so expect a bit of writing issues though I promise the writing will get better as new chapters arrive.TL"DR: A story with philosophical spice as well as a good plot, best for people who are looking for something that keeps them hooked with the plot. The novel has only started yet and so has my journey as an author.
love your novel ? please don't slack on updating
Potential! I must say, it is exciting diving into the world. While it's not without flaws, the potential of the plot and promise on display are certainly good.Writing - Needs improvement. A lot. But it's readable, understable and sufficient. Still, if the author can improve the writing by a level or two, it will be amazing. Tip- Focus on some realistic reactions from characters, situations and such. Plot- Since there isn't much of plot given till now, I have considered it's potential. If The author plays it right, the plot can become a great piece among 'system' contents.Character - Dialogues! they make or break the characters and it is good to see, character have plenty interaction. Well done there. Just needs some refinement.World Building- Although not unique in its genre with systems, ranks, monsters, etc. I could understand the world quite a lot from the first 15 chapters. So, I would say it was done great. Well, there is more to explore in future, so I belive again in it's potential.Overall, it is a good story. Needs editing and refinements, but still enjoyable.
Well in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking at this matter in a different way and without fighting and by trying to make it clear, and by considering each and everyone's opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.hehehe kidding ;> read this, this one is the future bestseller of wn hehehe ;pp
