The zombie's resistance is 'beyond imagination.' For a protagonist who's been winning every encounter up to this point, that moment of helplessness is genuinely terrifying. Her response is what sold me though. She doesn't freeze. She doesn't panic. She observes her surroundings, uses nearby objects to create obstacles, slows the thing down, and escapes. That's not just survival instinct — that's tactical intelligence under extreme pressure. And the fact that she then finds a 'relatively safer supermarket' and keeps going? That's the kind of protagonist who makes you believe she'll actually survive this. The rain scene after is also worth mentioning — 'heavy raindrops pelted her, soaking her clothes instantly, making movement even more difficult and slow. Every step felt like dragging a thousand-pound weight.' The author doesn't let up. Even after escaping the zombie, the environment itself is trying to kill her. The stakes keep climbing and I was genuinely invested in whether she'd make it back.
