Can we just appreciate the dialogue in these chapters because the banter is immaculate and I need to quote it forever. The System's voice is my favorite part honestly. "Host! He must have fallen in love with you!" and Xu Songhe's immediate "What nonsense are you talking about?" while simultaneously calculating that his favorability is still under twenty. The System is so confident and she's so done with it. And then later when she demands practical items instead of plot spoilers and the System just... ignores her and gives her the memory fragment anyway. The clumsiness of it all—the shard just landing in her palm, her stealing a guilty glance at Qi Wuyang, tucking it into her sleeve like a thief—this is comedy gold. But the real star is the exchange between Xu Songhe and Qi Wuyang. Let's talk about the "sharp-tongued softie" moment because it's perfect: "What's a 'sharp-tongued softie'?" He heard her. He definitely heard her. And instead of getting mad, he's genuinely curious. That's the thing about this character—he pretends not to care but he's always listening. And her explanation! "Someone who is clearly kind-hearted but always says things opposite to what he's truly feeling after helping others." She's literally reading him like a book and he can't even deny it. His response is just a scoff and "I'm afraid you're mistaken" which is the literary equivalent of a flustered squeak. The dialogue between them has this incredible rhythm. He says something cruel or dismissive, she fires back with something warm or teasing, and he pretends it doesn't affect him while clearly being affected. The scene where he offers her the apple and she says "it's just an apple, not a bomb"—that's such a natural, funny moment that shows how their dynamic has shifted. She's not afraid of him anymore. She's teasing him. And he's... let her. "Your rabbit doesn't want you anymore"—he says this with such mischief, and then immediately gives her the apple to comfort the scared rabbit. Every line reveals character.
I need to talk about the kiss in the snow because MY HEART CANNOT HANDLE IT. Shen Xingyao literally initiates it because she thinks he's faking tears. She's a transmigration veteran who's read countless steamy novels and she approaches this kiss like a military operation—"Comrade Shen Xingyao, the theoretical giant." She's licking his lips like a dog, then trying to "conquer like a general storming a fortress." I was wheezing. But then—THEN—Pei Yanqiu flips the script and absolutely dominates her. The contrast between her confident internal monologue and her actual experience of being kissed like a fish on shore is comedic gold. "Wasn't the male supporting character supposed to be an abstinent, god-like figure? Why is he so skilled?" — YES. The trope subversion hit me right in the feels. He studied for HALF AN HOUR. Half an hour! On the sofa! While she was showering! This man took her casual comment about his technique being inferior as a personal challenge and went full academic mode. The dedication is both ridiculous and deeply romantic in a weird way. But then the whole "do we have that thing" moment—Con. Dom. I literally screamed. The tension builds to this fever pitch, the atmosphere is thick, and then it just... deflates. Pei Yanqiu turning over like a corpse with unclosed eyes, enduring like a martyr. And Shen Xingyao's internal debate about whether they could just... you know... without protection, and then immediately shutting it down because she's smart enough to know that a baby in a freezing apartment with no money is NOT the plan. The emotional whiplash here is incredible. One moment you're swooning over the romantic tension, the next you're laughing so hard you wake up your neighbors. But underneath all the comedy there's genuine vulnerability—both of them are scared, both of them are uncertain, and both of them are trying their absolute best. That's what makes the romance land. It's not just physical chemistry (though obviously that's fire), it's the fact that they keep choosing each other even when things get awkward and complicated.
This chapter is a pacing masterpiece and I need to unpack why. It starts almost quietly. Wen Lingrao processing the information, standing up, walking outside. The confrontation with Chu Huan at the gate is brief—almost deceptively so. She asks one question, he denies it, she slaps him. Three beats. Then she reveals she knows about the embezzlement, and the pace starts to quicken. The transition from the gate to the room is where the chapter really picks up momentum. Tong Meng dragging Chu Huan like a chicken, the servants following, the crowd building outside. By the time they're all packed into Chu Huan's courtyard, the energy is electric. And then—Wen Lingrao sits down. She eats a tangerine. She drinks tea. The reader is leaning forward, desperate for action, and she's being deliberately, maddeningly calm. Then the audit begins and the pacing shifts into a relentless march. Each account entry is a new revelation, each one more damning than the last. The author uses short, precise sentences here—'Tap. She turned a page and tapped her fingertip on the paper.' The onomatopoeia of that tap is genius. It's the sound of a gavel, of a verdict, of a life being dismantled. The Ling Ji interlude provides a perfect breather before the final blow about the Heir's money. And the chapter ends on that devastating note about Chu Huan's lowest act—stealing from the child of the house he serves. The structure moves from quiet discovery to public confrontation to systematic destruction, and it never loses momentum for a single page.
Nice story I really love the starting it's very interesting.
not much to say this is kinda good no cap
............................................................................................................................This is 5 stars for a new writer, good luck with your first novel. However, I'm not sure you'll finish this one :)
I love this story .The storyline is amazing and I cannot wait to see the end .
amazing, I love dual cultivation stuff ?
My only criticism for this amazing story, because it is and honestly kind of a realistic portrayal of a isekei’d dude with no golden finger or system just his wits and words, characters are fleshed out so far wouldn’t mind a pov from the main ladies here and there but other then that love where it’s headed I’m on chapter 42 & can’t stop reading so great job author!
