Okay so I need to talk about the Bai Ying studio scene because honestly the author painted it so vividly I could literally see it. Xie Ning walks up to the sixteenth floor, the glass door slowly opens, and there's this wall with "Bai Ying Studio" in large letters. It sounds simple but it sets the whole tone—this is someone who's built a brand, a facade of success. And then the receptionist's reaction changes instantly when she says Xie Ning's name. That shift! From polite to unpleasant in one beat. It tells you everything about how people perceive power and status in this world. But the real masterpiece is the floor-to-ceiling window where Bai Ying sits. The author doesn't just say "big window"—they make you feel the cold glass, the city outside, the isolation of someone who's built their life on image. And Xie Ning standing in the doorway, looking down at her from above, literally and figuratively. The door swinging open with a loud thud and bouncing back? That's cinematic. I swear I heard that sound in my head. It's like the universe itself is announcing the reckoning.
The pacing in this section is genuinely masterful, and I want to break down why. The author takes an entire chapter to describe a flying ship journey that could have been summarized in two paragraphs, and instead we get this immersive experience of boarding, the excitement of the other disciples, Xu Yifan's boredom, the gossiping scenes, the secret trailing behind, the near-miss encounter with Xian Qinglin, and then—just as we think the chapter is winding down—we get Ma Xiu's soul lamp going dark and Ma Xiang attacking the Sixth Elder on arrival. That is a structural pivot that changes everything. Before that moment, the story feels like a slice-of-life cultivation comedy. After that moment, it becomes a story with real consequences and blood on its hands. Let me also talk about the sleeping scene. Two days of Xu Yifan sleeping, neither eating nor drinking, scaring the Sixth Elder half to death. The Seventh Elder checking whether he is still breathing. This could have been boring filler, but the author uses it brilliantly to build mystery. Why is he sleeping? What is he hiding? The pacing here is deliberate—slow, almost meditative—but it serves the larger narrative by making us lean in and wonder. The chapter structure also plays with perspective shifts. We start with world-building exposition about spiritual roots and sect hierarchy, move into character interaction and comedy, then pivot to Xian Qinglin's quiet longing, and end with violence and grief. That is a lot of tonal ground to cover, and the author navigates it without feeling jarring. The transition from the Sixth Elder and Seventh Elder bickering about whether Xu Yifan is chubby to Ma Xiang demanding justice for his dead son is abrupt, yes, but that abruptness mirrors how cultivation world politics work—peace one moment, blood the next.
I need to talk about Zhao Daxiong because this man is a walking tragedy of his own making. The scene where he finds out his biological daughter pushed Qin Fang and immediately yells at her — 'If you really don't want to stay in this family, then get out!' — and then scoops Qin Fang into his arms and carries her out? Meanwhile, Sheng Qianyu just stands there silently watching. And what does she do? She says 'Dad, you will always be my dad' and bows deeply. That's it. That's the moment the debt is repaid. Twelve years of raising her, and she walks away without a single complaint. What breaks my heart is that Zhao Daxiong KNOWS. The text says 'Out of consideration for Qin Fang, he said sternly' and later he looks at Sheng Qianyu with 'an apologetic expression.' He sees it. He sees his biological daughter throwing a tantrum and his adopted daughter handling everything with grace, and he still chooses the wife. Not because he doesn't love Sheng Qianyu — the text makes it clear he feels guilt and shame — but because he's been blind to Zhao Xiaoyu's manipulation for too long. And Zhao Xiaoyu! 'What a show.' She calls Sheng Qianyu's emotional farewell a performance while she's the one who literally pushed her mother to the ground. Then she runs off to 'celebrate' at a restaurant with money and coupons. This girl is so thoroughly corrupted that she can't even recognize genuine emotion when she sees it. Meanwhile, Political Commissar Chen is literally suppressing 'wild joy' when the marriage arrangement between his son and Zhao Xiaoyu gets called off. The man can't even hide it.
I gotta say this novel is really good so far a pity it only has 4 chapters

Author review! In this book, you can expect a lot of action with a focus on worldbuilding, getting to learn about the world of Gaia along with the system wielded by Gael.
The story's nice and tension between Alaric and Myra is what I like most. The push and pull between them is. Hope Alaric's character development turns out well. And also with Elio and Myra, it give me butterflies.

Genuinely a good read. I love the background and story telling. The only gripe I have with the story is the focus on the professional league games this early on into the story, but other than that I’m wholeheartedly looking forward to how the story develops.
