Okay, I need to talk about this one scene because it literally wrecked me. When Su Zhan shows up and immediately assumes she's lying again—"Since childhood, you've always been a liar"—and Xue Ning just stands there in the snow with her heart basically shattering into a million pieces? I wanted to shake him. But what hit me even harder was what happened AFTER that. When she says she wants to stay at the temple to be with her parents, and Su Zhan gets annoyed because he expected her to beg him to stay? That's when it clicked for me. She's not playing games anymore. In her past life, she would've thrown herself at his feet. Now? She just says "as you wish" and means it. The line that got me was when she thought to herself: "In the past, she had always longed to be with him, but now every moment spent in his company felt unbearable." That's not just a shift in feelings—that's a complete emotional transformation. The tragedy is that Su Zhan still doesn't get it. He thinks she's throwing a tantrum. He has no idea she's finally free. And the worst part? He's the one who made her this way. Every time he dismissed her, accused her, looked at her like she was nothing— he pushed her further away until there was nothing left to hold onto. I'm genuinely terrified for him because I know what's coming, and he has no idea what he's about to lose.
The dialogue in these chapters is sharp because everyone is speaking from a position of either vulnerability or calculated advantage, and you can hear the difference. Madam Bai's line about nurturing her fetus with one eye open even while sleeping — that's not dramatic flair, that's a pregnant woman's genuine terror rendered in plain speech. But then Yan Tingbai's response, dismissing her fears because 'no matter how foolish they are, they wouldn't cause trouble at this time' — that's a man who has never had to navigate the inner quarters, and the author lets his dialogue expose his blindness without any narration needed. The most devastating exchange, though, is between Swallow Holding Branch and her mother. She doesn't plead or explain the deeper dangers; she just says 'release people, send them out of the estate, and replace them with our own.' Three sentences, and Madam Bai understands the entire strategy. Swallow Holding Branch then articulates what Madam Bai couldn't put into words — that Madam Wang wouldn't need to do anything malicious, she could simply invoke doctrines and rules to wear her daughter-in-law down to the bone. The author has given each character a distinct voice: Yan Tingbai speaks in confident simplifications, Madam Bai in anxious pragmatism, Swallow Holding Branch in precise strategic observations, and Madam Wang in silent vows. No one sounds the same.
Okay so I need to talk about Ji Tianyi and Ji Heng because that dynamic is everything. There's this one line where Ji Heng looks at his son sprawled across the bed, blanket kicked off, and he literally has to remind himself 'although not his biological son, he is still his son.' That hit me right in the chest. It's not dramatic or anything, just this quiet internal moment where a man is learning how to love someone who isn't biologically his. And Tian Le's interaction with Baby is just the sweetest thing ever—when Tianyi says 'if Daddy takes all the stuff away, what will you do if you go hungry' and Tian Le goes full dramatic 'Am I really such a cold-blooded person?' I was wheezing. The kid is already weaponizing cuteness and it's working. But then the Xia Yang and Ji Tianyi friendship? 'Little brother, now I can play with you again' and Xia Yang's whole face just lights up. This kid had been so cautious, so guarded, and Ji Tianyi just breezes in and makes him feel safe. And the bedtime scene where Xia Yang explains to Tianyi why he sleeps with his parents—'because kids usually sleep with their parents'—I literally squealed. These children are finding normalcy in the worst possible world and it's devastating and beautiful. Also Lin Meng and Xia Longhui's desperation to join the team isn't just about survival—it's about finding a family. 'We also want to join in fighting zombies and try not to hold the team back.' That's not greed, that's someone who doesn't want to be a burden. And Ji Heng noticing that and letting them in? He sees their character, not just their supplies. That's the kind of leadership that makes you want to follow someone into hell.
Good pacing, great world building, grammar its smooth but slight tweaks then it all will be polished. Punctuations and paragraph spacing were good but their are some parts that needed to fixed and adjust but it doesn't mean the story is bad. It was good, and I highly recommended it, ?it has a potential to be contracted as it has a unique sense, and the author ideas was very refreshing in a sense that you could really relate to. Regarding the character not sure yet, as of now I only read few chapters, I still need to read further to see and understand the character deeply. Overall great work, to more ink!
It was good, like good I've seen some that are like this but I think that this is actually a good one, I appreciate the writer of this novel a lot
please never drop this its one of the most original and interesting football novels on this site
I will read more chapters first, but from the prologue it is quite interesting according to the genre that I like. I look forward to the next chapter ?
What a nice story. I'm liking this book every chapter that passes. Good work Author
Hello great author, I'm a huge fan of your work! Your book left a lasting impression on me, and I believe it has the potential to reach even more readers. I'd be honored to share some thoughts on how to enhance its impact and visibility. Would you be open to hearing my thoughts?
First Impression Review :I only read 10 chapters, I know. but...Although the world development and other staff are good, there are some incoherency with character's characteristics, like, some minutes ago Misty thinks of MC as a kid, but the next moment out of nowhere she starts feeling lovey-dovey towards MC like a lover. And this is the reason that made me lose my interest in this novel.I think, at least for Starting, "Bad Luck System" was better than this novel, although that novel was not perfect, i wanted more chapters of that novel.
