I need to pause and appreciate Song Zhizhi's dialogue in this chapter because it is SO naturally written. When Ying Shi asks her to write a mythological drama, Song Zhizhi's response is: 'A mythological drama? The last traditional mythological drama was… six or seven years ago, isn't it?' And then later: 'I can give it a try… I'm not certain. Give me a week—I'll see if I can come up with an outline.' Do you realize how much character is packed into those two lines? The hesitation, the self-doubt, the professional caution—all of it feels like something a real screenwriter would say. She's not instantly enthusiastic (which would feel fake), nor is she dismissive (which would kill the scene). She's appropriately uncertain but willing to try. And Ying Shi's response is equally perfect: 'Take your time, no rush. Little Sweetheart is still airing—you can relax a bit. Maybe inspiration will strike once you're more at ease.' This isn't just plot movement—this is character revelation. Ying Shi knows how to nurture creativity. She's not pushing; she's creating space. The dialogue throughout this chapter has this wonderful rhythm. Business conversations are crisp and efficient, fan forum posts are chaotic and authentic, and character interactions feel lived-in. Even the narrator's voice has personality—lines like 'Was this really how people job-hunted these days? So direct?' show the author's wit without breaking the narrative flow. What really sells it is that no character sounds like the same person. Shen Xiao sounds like a bratty but sweet guy, Zhou Qingning sounds measured and practical, Ying Shi sounds confident but warm, and Song Zhizhi sounds like someone who takes her craft seriously. Each voice is distinct, and that's not easy to pull off consistently.
