DEMONOIDGOD
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely ruthless and I love it. Chapter 4 starts slow—basically a slice-of-life shopping scene. Qin Yunxi and Sang Sang at the department store, picking out clothes, chatting with clerks. It feels cozy, almost mundane. You'd think this is just world-building, right? Establishing their new life in Harbin, showing us the supply system, the coupons, the social dynamics. And yeah, it IS world-building, but the author is lulling you to sleep. Then Sang Sang wanders into that alley. The shift is so sudden it's almost jarring. One moment she's bored and eating candy, the next she's pinned to the ground by a man with a gun. The author doesn't waste a single word on transition—the rustling sound, the force pinning her down, the hoarse voice warning her. It hits you like a punch. What's clever is how the tension doesn't drop even after the immediate danger passes. The men in black arrive, Sang Sang has to perform, Pei Che is still injured and dangerous, she kicks his wound, he points a gun at her. The chapter doesn't let you exhale. It's non-stop. Then Chapter 5 opens with 'On Monday, Sang Sang overslept.' And suddenly we're back in the mundane world of school, exams, and deskmates. But the reader is still buzzing from the alley scene. That contrast—between the life-or-death tension of the previous chapter and the boring reality of a teenage girl being late for class—is actually brilliant. It shows us that Sang Sang has to carry this secret alone, that her world has two layers: the ordinary surface and the dangerous underneath. The only thing I'd question is the Yuan Yuan subplot at the end of Chapter 5. It comes in a bit abrupt after the school introduction, but I guess it's setting up future dynamics. Still, it felt like the chapter lost a bit of momentum there.
The pacing in these chapters is honestly masterful. It starts SO gentle—Wen Lan reading a nursery rhyme to Wen Wu, the little girl being shy and happy. You're just sitting there feeling warm and cozy, right? And then the phone notification hits and suddenly we're diving into amnesia lore, family backgrounds, and the possibility that Wen Lan was SWITCHED at birth. The transition from the toy room to the living room to Zhou Nian's arrival flows like water. No jarring cuts. The author lets each scene breathe: the quiet family moment, the solitary phone-checking, the friend's explosive entrance, the serious conversation on the sofa. Each beat has room to land. And the cliffhanger timing is PERFECT. After all that exposition dump from Zhou Nian about the company, after Wen Lan's big realization about her parents, after she finally says 'I'm willing'—BAM. Lu Zhixing appears and says 'No.' Right when you're leaning forward in your seat. The dual 'I'm willing / No' ending is the kind of structural choice that makes you immediately open the next chapter instead of putting the book down. If anything, the only slight drag is the Qiandu research section—useful info but a tiny bit info-dumpy. But it's saved by Wen Lan's internal monologue keeping it personal rather than dry.
Its a good story maybe dont make him too op but overall its better than half of the storys i have read Next few words to make 140 Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
A thrilling novel full of mystery. I've read the first two chapters, and I'm already eager for more. While the descriptions are somewhat weak, the strong dialogues and smooth flow of events more than make up for it.
I'm looking forward to more chapters)))))
Overall, the book is exciting to read. Exorcists, I haven't really tried out this genre but after reading this one, I kind of like it and would like to read more.Keep up the good work, steady update, and it'll be more better.
I'm here from Tiktok. I see I am not the only one that's from there. But, thats what lead me here. Let's see if this book is as good as the marketing makes it seem. I'll leave this review here for now and wait for chapters to pile up. I love the tiktok videos which is the sole reason for this review. I'll have to hire this guy/gal for my marketing stuff in the future, a brilliant person, also extremely hilarious.
Absolutely loved the title of this book. Will definitely add to library and read when it has more chapters!
