Okay, I need to talk about how this chapter basically did a complete 180 and I was NOT ready for it. One minute everyone is losing their minds over Lin Shuyao's credentials—"top graduate from Jingdu Nongkeyuan" "participated in key projects"—Station Master Li is literally saying she could speed up their progress by THREE YEARS. I was sitting there like, oh this is going well, the hardworking female lead gets recognized, the good guys win. Classic setup. And then Professor Chen Zhiheng picks up the phone. What a villain. What a absolute SCUM. He doesn't even deny her coming from his institute—he just rewrites her entire existence into a two-year errand-runner. "She only worked under me for two years, doing miscellaneous tasks." The audacity. The sheer arrogance of a man who can't stand someone potentially being better than him. And the way he phrases it—"with her limited abilities, she can't accomplish anything without me"—that is not just professional jealousy, that is someone who needs to crush other people to feel tall. The way the office atmosphere shifted from electric excitement to dead silence in one phone call... I actually gasped. The young technician yelling "FRAUD!" and the others piling on—it's so realistic how quickly a group can turn. One moment they're praising her, the next they're calling her a disgrace. No loyalty, no curiosity, just mob mentality. But here's what I love: Station Master Li doesn't just accept Chen's word. He's like, wait, hold on. Why would a professor go out of his way to tear down a junior who worked for him? The documents look real. Let's investigate. That's the kind of leader I want to see—someone who doesn't just go with the crowd. The logistics role assignment is genius plot-wise too. It's both a test AND a way to save face for everyone. If she's truly incompetent, she'll fail on her own. If she's good, she proves it. It's a setup for her to shine later, I just KNOW it.
The pacing in these chapters is honestly masterful. The author knows exactly when to slow down and when to let things breathe. You've got this entire sequence of Eunuch Yang preparing food, the careful instructions about what the Crown Prince might crave, the half-hour nap, the fire that must never go out—and it's all so deliberately unhurried. But then you pivot to the cat arriving and General's jealousy and suddenly everything speeds up. The transition from the quiet kitchen to the violent pecking and slapping happens in what feels like two sentences and it's perfect. The author uses the food preparation as a pacing device too—everything revolves around what the Crown Prince eats, when he eats it, and who gets to share in it. This creates this natural rhythm to the chapters that mirrors the actual daily life of the palace. It's not dragging, it's not rushing, it's just... living. And that's what makes it so addictive. You want to stay in this world forever.
I am really enjoying reading Mark’s story! I love the world building and all the details and visuals provided. I cannot wait to see more of the specialty blacksmithing process and how Mark’s relationship with the other villagers progresses.
Very good novel must read it nice story building so far
I like the world building and writing style also
I love this keep it up you have to it in more effort
This is funny asf. It hooked me. The mc screamed all my thoughts when I judged a harem novel.
The story has amazing development and promises to have great potential. The characters are well-written. And they all have their own personalities. The quality is well maintained throughout the chapters. With the stability of chapter releases, I’m sure the author will improve and fill in these gaps.
I love how all the characters are developing, from the first chapter to now the development has been wild! The kind that makes a parent shed a tear.
i like the way mc kent collect sp. nima is also funny.
This is too good. It is splendid although a bit rushed, it is still. Color me silly, author but they can't have Elara?
