DraugrLord
The dialogue in this is so good I almost forgot to be horrified for a second. Like, Qi Xun just walks into a room full of dead man parts and her first instinct is to offer Xie Nanke a suhexiang pill because he's about to throw up? That's not just competence, that's personality. "Mr. Xie, shall I give you a suhexiang pill?" Casual. Efficient. No drama. And then Song Huaijin, who a year ago wouldn't have given her the time of day, now says "Qi Xun—this is your time to shine" with actual respect in his voice. The shift in their dynamic is so subtle you'd miss it if you weren't paying attention. He doesn't say "I'm sorry I was wrong about you." He just hands her the case and trusts her with it. That's how you write character growth without making it a whole speech. But the real gem is Liu Yishan. The man is terrified and his dialogue reflects that perfectly—stammering, deflecting, trying to pivot to superstition the moment things get too real. "My lord, coroner… do you not think Lord Yu's death was too strange, too cruel—unlike the work of man?" That's not a theory. That's panic wearing a philosophical costume. And Qi Xun sees right through it: "Could it be that you suspect Lord Yu's death was caused by spirits or demons?" She doesn't let him hide behind mystery. The narrative voice is also doing a lot of heavy lifting here. It's restrained but observant—never over-explaining, always letting details speak for themselves. When it describes Qi Xun removing her hood and the crowd realizing she's a woman, there's no moralizing. Just: "Her face shone like autumn moonlight, almond eyes bright as spring blossoms." Poetic but not purple. The author knows when to be clinical (the forensic details) and when to be lyrical (the atmosphere). That balance is rare.
Okay, so this premise is actually kind of brilliant. You've got a transmigrated protagonist who knows exactly how the story is supposed to go, and instead of trying to become the heroine or play the game, she just... wants out. She wants to divorce her husband and leave the family drama behind. That's not the typical transmigration plot where the MC tries to win everyone over or seize power. Instead, she's being strategically passive, waiting for the right moment to execute her exit plan. The cannery job incident kicks things off, and honestly, the way the original owner's desperation led to her death is both tragic and kind of pathetic. But what's interesting is how the plot is already diverging from the source material. The Mu family isn't as cruel as described in the book, and Mother Mu is actually being generous with money and concern. That's a major plot deviation that suggests the transmigrated protagonist's presence is already changing outcomes. The divorce subplot is the central tension right now—will Mu Yunyao accept it, or will he refuse and force her to stay? And then there's the mystery of why the book's narrative doesn't match reality. Is the novel she read unreliable, or is her presence altering the timeline? That's a really clever hook that keeps you wondering what's going to happen next.
Okay so let me just say this — Yan Xiao is absolutely unhinged and I am HERE for it. Like, he hands over twelve thousand yuan like it's pocket change, calls it "not much," then gets jealous over a guy who brought osmanthus cakes and proceeds to beat him unconscious, strip him naked, and dump him in front of someone's door at dawn. This man operates on a completely different wavelength. The scene where he wakes up Fang Min half-naked in front of Widow Zhang's house? Chef's kiss. The villagers think he's a hooligan, he wets himself from terror, and Yan Xiao is out there waiting until midnight like a silent guardian angel with a violent streak. He even brought ointment for Wen Qinghe's swollen lips afterward. The contrast is insane — tender one second, murderous the next. But honestly, what made me sit up was how his jealousy manifests. He doesn't just get mad — he ELIMINATES the threat. And then he covers it up so thoroughly that Fang Min has to deal with the consequences alone. That's not just possessive, that's strategic. The man planned this out. And Wen Qinghe? She just... accepts it? She's like "huh, weird but okay" and goes back to sleep. I respect her energy. She's clearly been through enough to not be phased by a man who knocks people out for looking at her wrong.
Not as an author, but as a reader, I am writing this review. What can I say? Interesting characters, a good world, logically thinking characters, mind games, and developed smuts later on. Simply, best among the best. Keep writing, and keep entertaining. And here take note power stones, because you deserve it, Lol.
Hello everyone, New author here. This book is my first work, so you all are welcome to share your opinions.Support if you like my work.thx for reading.
Story is well written, and has quite a bit of future potential. Just remember this though, if you yourself, enjoy writing your stories, then that is the one thing that should matter the most more then anything else. Sometimes, it is not about any sort of money or payment, but should in fact, always be about enjoying sharing your work with your viewers and fans. And that, should always take priority, because if your fans and viewers enjoy reading your work, as well as potential future generations, then that is the one thing, that should matter more to you then anything else. For you see, people are more concerned in living in the here and now. While people me, we like to have a more, long game in mind. Now, don't take this as some sort of negative by any means, I am just saying, that if we want future generations to enjoy this world, then we have to be willing to protect what we love, in an effort to do our best to better our future.
Well, this is kinda a experimental novel which i am uploading to test everything before releasing the main one in a few months, but still you wil enjoy your time here. Feel free to leave tips and reviews tho, :D
I really like the novel overall, but man you gotta work on your writing skill.I know this is your first book, but yeah its pretty decent and worth a read because of its uniqueness.xD
I just finished reading the novel..it has woven a masterful tale that's equal parts captivating, thought-provoking, and emotionally resonant. I was hooked from the very first page. The writing is lyrical, descriptive, and immersive, making it easy to become fully invested in the world you have created. One of the standout aspects of this novel is its well-developed characters. The characters are complex, relatable, and flawed, making them feel incredibly real. The character development is expertly handled, with each person growing and evolving in meaningful ways throughout the story. The themes explored in are timely, relevant, and expertly woven throughout the narrative. adding layers to the story that make it even more compelling.Overall, I'm blown away by your talent, creativity, and dedication towards your craft. Betrayal by love is a must-read,Congratulations, on creating something truly special!Rating: [4/5 stars]Feel free to modify it to fit your personal style and the specifics of the novel!
I honestly really liked the story and the characters of this novel (except Asher he’s an asshole), it really reminded me of the start of My Three Wives Are Beautiful Vampires, but after a certain point in the story it just begins to fall down hill. Characters are abandoned and plot lines are left unfinished for such a long period of time. Now these characters a d plot lines may come back in the future but I doubt it. I did like this novel and I might pick it back up at some point in the future but at this current time, I’m unwilling to continue paying for a story I’m not enjoying.
This novel is very wonderful, I advise you to read it ??
Honestly surprised. I thought it was going to be trash, but it was really good. The descriptions Kaiser used for the setting and the main character's feelings were A+. I love this book so far-wishing for more great chapters.
