There's so much layered meaning in this chapter that I want to unpack. The most obvious symbol is the wound itself. Yuyi Yue's shoulder wound is physical—three inches long, deep enough to expose bone. But it's also deeply symbolic. She REOPENS it to teach Fang Xun'gui how to heal it. This is the central paradox of their relationship: she has to be hurt so he can learn how to prevent future hurt. Her suffering becomes his education. That's not just plot—it's thematic architecture. Then there's the Gu Insects. They represent control, manipulation, the violation of bodily autonomy. Yuyi Yue was fed Gu Insects since childhood—her body was never her own. And yet, she's now using that same knowledge (the Truth-Telling Gu) to extract information, to protect herself, to navigate a dangerous world. The thing that was used to break her has become her weapon. That's a classic trauma-to-power arc, but the author handles it with remarkable subtlety. The desolate courtyard setting is also worth noting. It's abandoned, forgotten, a place where two people who are both products of violence can meet without the eyes of their respective organizations. It's a liminal space—neither safe nor dangerous, just... present. Like their relationship. And the moonlight. It appears multiple times in this chapter—"moonlight bathed the chamber," "a pool of clear moonlight" in her eyes. Moonlight is traditionally associated with clarity, with truth revealed in darkness. Yuyi Yue sees Fang Xun'gui's true feelings in the moonlight. She sees herself clearly too. The light doesn't hide anything. The master's philosophy about the human heart being "the hardest thing to heal" ties everything together. It's the thematic thesis of the chapter, and possibly the entire novel.
I need to talk about Su Yingmei because WOW. This woman is the emotional anchor of the entire story and I'm not even being dramatic. Here's this poor woman lying in a hospital bed, having just undergone or about to undergo major surgery, and what does she worry about? Not her own health — she worries that Su Zhisheng 'didn't agree to some condition' when he got that 300,000 yuan. She immediately assumes he sold himself out somehow. Her first instinct isn't gratitude, it's fear for her son's dignity. And then there's the scene where she starts knitting because the daily injections are boring. She measures his waist and says 'you've lost weight. What a lousy excuse for a wealthy family — all they're good for is tormenting people.' She's been his only real family through everything, and she still notices he's lost weight before she notices he has money. Meanwhile the Su family — the biological family that abandoned him — treats him like furniture. His 'father' Su Jingye is more concerned about face and the engagement alliance than actually judging who did what. The stepmother's line 'Xiaojie is your lucky charm' is so casually cruel it made my blood boil. They see him as a transaction, a bargaining chip, a reputation management problem. Su Zhisheng's relationship with his adoptive mother is the only pure thing in this story. Everything else is calculated. He leaves the Su family not just for freedom but so she can have her surgery. He doesn't block his 'family' on WeChat because he's planning his revenge. But with his mother? He genuinely smiles. He brings her yarn. He pats her hand and tells her to relax. That contrast is everything.
"You jerk! I'm your sister-in-law. How could you act so recklessly?" — I literally gasped out loud reading this line. The author knows exactly what they're doing with pacing. Chapter 1 opens with a bathroom encounter that escalates from awkward small talk to a forced kiss in under five minutes. No warm-up, no slow burn setup—just BAM, you're thrown into the deep end. And I loved every second of it. The restaurant scene is where the pacing really shines though. Fu Yanchi under the table, his leg pressing against her thigh, her nearly spilling juice—this is masterclass tension-building. Every tiny movement is loaded with meaning. The author doesn't need exposition dumps or internal monologues; they just give you physical details and let you FEEL the discomfort. 'His gaze was so intense that Luo Yunmian couldn't ignore it.' That's it. That's the whole paragraph. And it works. Chapter 2's structure is even cleverer. It starts with Fu Yanchi's stubborn declaration 'But I only want her' and then immediately pivots to Fu Tingshen's phone call that sends him running. This is such a smart narrative choice—the author uses Fu Tingshen's absence to create space for the real drama to unfold between the two siblings, then brings him back with Shen Xin'er already seated at his table like she belongs there. The transition from the restaurant to the next morning's breakfast is seamless. We go from Luo Yunmian worrying all night to walking in on the woman who's clearly more important to him than she is. And Chapter 3 ends on THAT cliffhanger. The greenhouse. The roses. Fu Tingshen and Shen Xin'er having an intimate conversation that Luo Yunmian overhears. The author literally cuts off right at the most painful moment. I had to immediately start reading Chapter 4. The pacing here is relentless—every chapter ends with a hook that makes it impossible to stop. No dragging, no filler scenes, just pure momentum. This is how you write a page-turner.
Let's talk about what everyone is fighting for here, because the layers are insane. On the surface: Yu Zhi wants to save her brother. Pei Yuezhou wants to protect her. Simple, right? Wrong. Yu Heng just woke up to discover he's been in a coma for SEVEN YEARS, his body has superhuman strength, and there are people — Song Chuhe specifically — who were behind whatever happened to him. The doctors literally call it 'a final rally before death' which is NOT the vibe we want going into this. Pei Yuezhou is clearly operating on a whole different level. He has mercenaries. An underground chamber. A man he's about to deliver to Song Chuhe as some kind of twisted bargaining chip. When Lin Zhi mentions Song Yu's sister has been 'moved abroad,' Pei Yuezhou's response is to crush his cigarette and order the interrogated man to be cremated and buried abroad 'because he had always been fastidious about cleanliness.' This man is calculating death and reincarnation like it's a logistics problem. And the Song family connection — Song Yu's family shifting operations back to China, Pei Yuezhou going completely still when the name comes up — this is clearly the main antagonistic force. The tension between Pei Yuezhou and Song Chuhe is palpable even when they're not in the same room. What are they all赌 (risking)? Yu Heng's life. Yu Zhi's peace. Pei Yuezhou's soul, honestly. The stakes feel genuinely high and the author is stacking them like a house of cards waiting to fall.
Does it have a romance element or a harem?
I had a beef with the author when it seemed this novel was dropped and planned to blast him to heaven(dont mind me????)Wonderful novelIntriguing plotOk charactersIm blank about the world developmentAll in all wonderful storyPlease don’t drop
well I'd like to say that I've been on web novel for a couple of years now and I have never been except one other time so completely satisfied with a novel. what a great surprise to find a story that is not such a repeat of so many others. the characters are extremely interesting. and although it is eventually going to be somewhat of a harem novel I don't think the author is going to exploit it as such. I am looking forward to finding out more about the planet and its characteristics in the future chapters.
I’ve only read the free chapters for now, but I can say that the concept is awesome and it’s the first time I’ve seen it. I like the inclusion of multiple power systems for progression. The only problem I’ve seen so far are character interactions in the early chapters not having much fluff to them.
Definitely rating this book a 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‼️ It’s captivating and just by reading a few chapters it already started the drama, the revenge and the sex on the beach?? The flow of the story is pretty smooth too. I can’t wait for more chapters and see how the story will progress.
This book so far is absolutely lovely and adorable❣️The pacing is perfect and the overall writing Excellent❣️❣️ The side characters are a teeny tiny bit flat, however, as the story goes on, I believe they will be rounded out. I love the leads and the superb intelligence and self awareness of the mml Omega Sohee. I HIGHLY recommend this book.?????
