I am NOT okay with how tender that scene with Lu Yuchuan was. Xu Zhizhi wakes up in a different ward — she's been moved, probably because the original chaos attracted too much attention — and there's this tall, quiet man by the window. The sunlight, his shadow falling over her, the way he pours her water with those long elegant fingers... the author really knows how to write atmosphere. And Xu Zhizhi's internal monologue? "Men like this were supposed to be quite... vigorous in that department." I SCREAMED. She literally just fainted three times and her brain is already going there. But then she catches herself and blushes, and I was simultaneously dying and laughing. What made this scene work so well emotionally is the contrast. She just spent an entire chapter being screamed at, manipulated, and physically threatened by her husband's family. And then here's this man who says basically nothing dramatic but makes her feel safe. "Your body is too weak. The doctor said you mustn't get too emotional." He's protecting her, not pressuring her. The fact that she fainted AGAIN when he tried to touch her bed? That's not drama — that's trauma. Six months of abuse and her body still recoils. But she's also saying "Uncle Lu, can you help me with something else?" — she's already planning her escape. There's something so powerful about a woman who's been pushed to the edge and is still finding the strength to fight.
Okay so I need to talk about the scene where Fu Jinglan is literally standing outside Shen Lingxi's door with a bouquet of purple lisianthus and he overhears her telling Song Zhili that her future husband absolutely cannot be surnamed Fu. BROKE. I literally gasped out loud. Here's the thing—she just spent the entire previous chapter being all sweet and clingy on voice messages, saying she missed him, and then the SECOND he's not in the room she's drafting an exit strategy? The betrayal is SO specific and petty and I love it. And Fu Jinglan? He just turns around and leaves. No dramatic confrontation, no angry speech. Just walks away with his flowers. The fact that he was already thinking about having a child with her—remember the longevity lock scene? He's touching it, she thinks it's from a first love, and he's like 'one was ten, the other fifteen'—he's ALREADY planning a future and she's like nope, not a Fu. The irony is delicious. And then immediately after, he texts her 'Come to my room.' That's not forgiveness, that's something else entirely. The emotional whiplash from 'I missed you' to 'I'm leaving you' to 'come to my room' in the span of three paragraphs is chef's kiss. Also the Song Zhili subplot hits different—she's been hiding a two-year secret relationship and her warning about 'walls have ears' turns out to be foreshadowing for literally the next scene. I'm not okay.

offers a compelling journey through a richly imagined landscape. The author's descriptive prose brings to life a world where every shadow holds a secret and every relic tells a story. Talyra's character is well-developed, with her internal struggles and evolving relationships adding depth to the narrative. Overall this is a good bok?
Only on chapter 12, so my review will likely only improve as I progress.Honestly kind of jealous of the characters, plot development and writing style. I went into it thinking happy things and having happy feelings despite the sad experiences, and that was crushed, so I mean, if you're into that sort of thing like I am, that's cool. I like how the side characters/siblings maintain purpose throughout the story (so far).I can't say that at any point I was terribly surprised by the aggressive turn-of-events, except in the beginning, that really threw me off. It does follow some pretty standard tropes where you go, "Alright, that person is going to do something fucked up" and then they do it. I have a few theories about who is going to die, but I'll keep that to myself for now. I don't read much, too busy with writing, but I'm averaging 6 chapters a day which is a lot for me when it comes to a traditional book and not audible or something I can listen to on the way to work. All in all, definitely worth a read, go ahead and give it a shot, maybe a few chapters in should be all you need. The further you go, the further you get drawn in, so reader beware.
The story’s mystery and the dynamic between the two main characters are so unique and full of potential—it really pulls you in. The opening chapters hooked me right away, and I’m genuinely excited to see where the author takes it. I just hope the updates stay consistent because this feels like a gem in the making. Definitely worth checking out if you’re into something fresh and intriguing!
Love this book, it isn't overly involved in fantasy and is much like the real world
I liked the word building, along with the introduction of new characters with their dialogue feeling more natural. Will catch up on the rest!
